Your grant has made a tangible difference in the lives of our students, creating a more welcoming and supportive environment.\r\nHow We're Using These Resources:\r\nYour contributions have directly supported students in managing stress and anxiety. The coloring books and fidgets have become invaluable tools during individual counseling sessions and group workshops. For instance, just last week, a student struggling with test anxiety used a fidget to ground themselves during a particularly stressful moment. We worked together to practice mindfulness techniques, using the coloring books to focus and calm their racing thoughts. They left the session feeling noticeably more relaxed and confident.\r\nThe signs you helped provide have transformed my office into a comfortable space. Students (and even some parents!) have commented on how much more inviting and calming the space feels. The warm colors and positive affirmations create an atmosphere where they feel comfortable opening up and seeking support.\r\n\r\nThank you so much!","fullyFundedDate":1732717250309,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-mental-health-and-wellness-for/8852987/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Mental Health and Wellness for High School Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thornton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9789131"},{"teacherId":9801947,"projectId":8873862,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for your generous contributions to the mental health and wellness resources at my school. These resources are not only helping them stay grounded during moments of anxiety but also empowering them to take charge of their own well-being. It has been incredible to see their sense of relief and hope as they learn to implement these strategies in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nAs a school counselor I have the privilege of supporting students every day, and your donations directly enhance the work I do. Already, I have had several students benefit. As a high school counselor, I often have very stressed out students who may even be in crisis. Just last week, I had a 10th grade girl beg to use the weighted blanket in my office in order to help regulate herself after hearing some difficult family news. Also, the \"Alexa\" is used every day to listen to music to help students cope, often while they doodle on the BuddahBoard. Not to mention, just about every student who enters my office will end up playing with the new fidget toys. They especially seem to love the magnetic fidgets! The soothing fountain is always going and has really helped create an \"Oasis\" feeling in my office. \r\n\r\nI organize a \"Wellness Week\" at my school, which helps promote healthy habits for students and staff. It was wonderful having all of these materials to support the week. The essential oils and Amazon Echo were essential for a yoga corner that was used several days throughout the week. Also, the therapy clay and fidgets were utilized in a calming corner. It could not have come at a better time!\r\n\r\nfinally, Incan not emphasize how supported I feel as an educator knowing that there are organizations and people out there that care. My job as a high school counselor can truly feel overwhelming at times, and knowing that there are others out there that want to lend a hand is truly comforting and encouraging. I hope your team knows they made a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1728471228353,"projectUrl":"project/safe-oasis-a-counseling-initiative-for/8856960/","projectTitle":"Safe Oasis: A Counseling Initiative for Student Well-Being","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ragon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9789334"},{"teacherId":9237764,"projectId":8571137,"letterContent":"Having new interactive board games and technology in the Vista library has been awesome! \r\n\r\nStudents have been able to come to the library to collaborate and build connections with other students in the school by playing games together. During Wellness Week, the \"Color Me Smile\" event in our library, as well as our celebration of Mindfulness Monday and International Day of Kindness, was made possible by the colored pencils, crayons, and coloring books. Students loved the chance to take a break, either by themselves or with their friends, to practice mindfulness and kindness through coloring. The new bubble timers and stress balls were made available to students throughout the week as well, giving them another opportunity to practice mindfulness through their senses.\r\n\r\nIn my office, the sand tray was noticed by nearly every student who came in as not only a fun toy to play with but also a creative outlet and something to engage with while we spoke. They were delighted by the new addition and I could tell it helped to create a relaxing, inviting space for my students. The owl light and twinkling lights under my cabinets allowed me to turn off the harsh fluorescent lights and promote regulation through soothing accent lights, which many students commented that they appreciated as well.\r\n\r\nThe materials you provided were invaluable to the success of Wellness Week and elevated my office to be a safe, calming place for my students. Some came alone, and others came in groups. Since adding my materials, it seems as if more students have been \"enticed\" to come visit. My office has more aesthetic appeal with the interesting toys and lighting improvements. These supplies gave me instant rapport with my students. Of course, this made the academic and social-emotional learning conversations far easier and compensated for any deficits in my engaging personality.\r\n\r\nThe second part of my Donners Choose package included needed tech and books. The tech has been used constantly for night events, guest speakers, college reps, hiring, and career fairs. The books have been much-used resources. I had them on a shelf in my office, but they have since moved to a corner of our building's media center so all students can access them more often and without me as a middleman.\r\n\r\nSome donated books are by Thomas Sowell, a senior Fellow at the Hoover Institute. I was uncertain how they would be received, but according to our librarian, his books are constantly used by our upper-level students who are required to take classes in economics and current events. He was an unknown resource to many of our staff and students. \r\n\r\nLastly, the gift has added so much depth to the content I can offer to my students who need academic support and want to learn new study skills. I have been doing this for a long time, and my skill set needed a boost.
