Having engaging, appropriately leveled books in their hands has made it possible to teach these skills in a way that feels meaningful and exciting rather than frustrating.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active and collaborative experience. Students participate in small guided reading groups, partner discussions, and independent reading time each day. They annotate texts, ask questions, and share their thinking with one another. Because the books are high-interest and accessible, students are more confident volunteering to read aloud and contribute to conversations. The classroom has truly become a community of readers who encourage one another and celebrate growth.\r\n\r\nI am especially proud of a few students who made tremendous progress this year. They were all very excited to build words with the alphabots, practice correct letter formation and form numbers using the numberbots. Students were introduced to the activities and demonstrated how to use them. Afterwards, they were allowed to play freely with them in order to explore their natural curiousity. Next time, they will be asked to create words or numbers with the bots.
