However, having students read and act out scripts while holding their Chromebook to do so is a horribly clunky and ineffective method to truly access the material!\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our donors, my students have been able to hold book copies of scripts, move effectively through the space, and more easily engage with one another in class. My Theatre 3 students were thrilled to receive copies of \"The Crucible\" by Arthur Miller, and their ability to work on scenes - creating character, work on blocking, delve into objectives, obstacles, tactics, and more! - was incredibly easier than in the many years I have taught with the PDF version on a computer.\r\n\r\nMy Theatre 1 and 2 students have held the copies of \"No Fear Shakespeare\" versions of plays taught in class, and have been able to engage with both the original Shakespeare language as well as have access to a more contemporary translation, giving them more understanding and connection to the text and the acting involved! They have had a blast rewriting scenes in \"teen speak,\" acting out \"girl fights,\" and otherwise authentically engaging with Shakespeare!\r\n\r\nMy tech students have also benefitted from the books we acquired, learning more about technical theatre aspects of makeup, for example. \r\n\r\nAll in all, having paper copies of materials has made access for all more engaging!!
