Students moved through the full design cycle—brainstorming, modeling, printing, and reflecting—which strengthened their problem‑solving skills and gave them a real sense of accomplishment when a concept they'd sketched became a physical object. The reliable print speed and quality meant more projects reached completion during class time, reducing downtime and keeping engagement high.\r\n\r\nBeyond technical skills, the printer fostered hands‑on learning, creativity, and collaboration. Students experimented with design choices, iterated quickly on prototypes, and enjoyed the playful, exploratory side of making—decorative models, custom keychains, and functional classroom tools all emerged from their ideas. The excitement around watching prints build layer by layer made lessons feel lively and fun, and the cross‑curricular potential allowed us to integrate 3D design into science, art, and engineering tasks, enriching the overall learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1760807511945,"projectUrl":"project/3d-printing-lab/9824436/","projectTitle":"3D Printing Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. V.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2955176"},{"teacherId":2955176,"projectId":9515021,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for contributing to this project! The 3d printer is really engaging students of all backgrounds and academic achievement levels. I see kids, who are not very interested in STEM, (or so they thought) being inspired to make all kinds of things. For those kids who have done this before, it has been a way to show off their skills to others. \"Can you print this dragon?\" is a common refrain from them. Other kids, newer to the skills have made much simpler, but no less important, things like a chocolate mold with a parent name for a birthday present. More still have tinkered and made creations that are silly, fun or challenging. \r\n\r\nAs we work to learn the skills of computational thinking, I see kids who were going through the motions become enlivened. This engagement has led kids to look for and debug problems in code, when a print job will not work. Just today I got this message \"Thank you for trying! I'll debug it and get back to you.\" as a response to me not being able to get a print done because of problems with scale. It has also led may of them to stop and think about how to solve problems in the abstract, then in the concrete, spending time looking at a design flaw before sending the file. In the past, the same kid, would have just turned in their work without looking or caring for it.\r\n\r\nWe recently had parent teacher conferences. Kids had told parents how much they loved using the printer and programs to make their objects. I was amazed at how may families were asking about how they can make some practical things for their camping trips and homes. \r\n\r\nThis has been a truly wonderful experience! I thank you wholeheartedly!","fullyFundedDate":1757633433040,"projectUrl":"project/creative-collaboration/9515021/","projectTitle":"Creative Collaboration","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. V.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2955176"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41552","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":479,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"34.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":59.1,"schoolId":41552,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Morey Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Morey Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/denver-public-school-district-1/morey-middle-school/41552"}
