We used them for the very first time while writing poetry connected to our campus theme this year: Breaking Barriers.\r\n\r\nThese dictionaries have already had an incredible impact on our writing. Many of my students love reading, but writing poetry felt intimidating to them at first. Having a tool in their hands that helped them explore word choice, rhythm, and sound opened new doors. Instead of getting stuck, they became curious, flipping through pages, trying out new rhymes, and even surprising themselves with the creative possibilities.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading and writing often go hand in hand. Students read poems as models, then return to their dictionaries to build verses of their own. Students who were once hesitant to share their work are now reading their poems aloud with pride.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who usually struggles to get started with writing, lit up when she discovered that her chosen word had a whole list of possible rhymes. That moment captured exactly what your gift has done: given students the confidence and resources to see themselves as writers.\r\n\r\nThank you for breaking barriers alongside us. Every family that received a donated food basket was grateful as for a day their bellies will be full.
