The impact has been immediate and wonderful.\r\n\r\nBefore the bins, books were shelved spine-out, hiding the covers and making it extremely hard for young readers to find what they wanted. Students constantly had to pull books off shelves, causing disarray.\r\n\r\nNow, the clear bins allow for a vibrant, face-forward organization. We used this system to reorganize our Biography section by topic (like \"Authos\" or \"Athletes\"), making it intuitive for students. Just last week, a third grader easily found a biography for his project by seeing the cover through the clear bin—a task that previously required staff help. This allows for true independent selection.\r\n\r\nI've also observed that students feel more ownership. One kindergartner said, \"Now I can see all the good ones!\"\r\n\r\nHow are the students using the new resources? This improved visual access boosts their confidence and independence in browsing. Our next step is to expand this system to early chapter books to support the transition for second and third graders.\r\n\r\nYour contribution directly fosters increased reading confidence and a lifelong love of books.","fullyFundedDate":1760217349325,"projectUrl":"project/organize-the-library/9809174/","projectTitle":"Organize the Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Saletto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2381109"},{"teacherId":2381109,"projectId":9539279,"letterContent":"The transformation of our elementary library is truly remarkable, thanks to your generosity. Students and I now use the new chairs, wallpaper, and window films to create a cozy, modern, and welcoming environment, making the library a place they love to be. The organizational tools—from magnetic frames to clear pen holders—promote student independence and keep our resources tidy. A standout moment was our \"Book Nook Build,\" where students used the laptop stands for design research and the hot glue gun to build miniature models, giving them a real sense of ownership over the space. When they first saw the materials, their reaction was pure joy; one student even said it looked like a \"library from a movie!\" They immediately appreciated the comfort and the feeling that their learning space is valued. Next, our students will engage in \"Author Interviews,\" utilizing the new setting and laptop stands for collaborative research and filming, showcasing both their creativity and the inspiring new library you helped build. Thank you for giving our students a flexible, well-equipped, and inspiring space for discovery and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1755708268428,"projectUrl":"project/bright-minds-bold-spaces-revitalizing/9539279/","projectTitle":"Bright Minds, Bold Spaces: Revitalizing Our Library for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Saletto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2381109"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34195","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":341,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":74,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.9,"schoolId":34195,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Montrose Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Montrose Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/henrico-county-public-schools/montrose-elementary-school/34195"}
