Learning to program in Python has been a challenge and they are proud of their accomplishments. When we started this journey, none of them had any coding experience and they were not thrilled that our drones didn't have remote controls. When I told them that the drones would run based on the code they wrote, I was quickly told that would be hard. Students have learned to code lights, sounds, and a safety module. Some students have gotten to writing code to make their drones hover and fly. Next week, we will be setting up the obstacle course and they are really excited. With my 8th grade class they have made layered relie sculptures from cardboard that were made into eyes. They used the circle punchers to cut out the pupil and iris and they also used the cardboard cutters to cut our other eye shapes. \r\n\r\nMy students were happy that the cutting was made easier for them with having these tools. The sharpeners create a nice point on the pencil and does it super fast. There are even smiles on my student faces because they love how the point looks so sharp. Students are looking forward to checking out the other topics and they enjoy looking through the books when they have free time. From there students designed the final idea that they would make. A few students are done, but soon we will have piles of cute stuffed pop-tarts. Students enjoyed learning how to hand sew and for many of them this was the first time they've sewn anything.
