The Magna-tiles, Dash bots, and marble runs have been an absolute hit with the kids, and it has been amazing to watch how quickly they jumped right into using them.\r\n\r\n Technology in our room looks a little different than just staring at a screen. With the Dash bots, the kids are using tablets to write block code that actually brings the robots to life right in front of them. It has been so exciting to see them take on coding challenges, map out routes, and build massive obstacle courses by combining the bots with the Magna-Tiles and marble runs. Whenever a bot takes a wrong turn or a marble shoots off the track, there are no tears, just a lot of laughter and immediate problem-solving to figure out how to fix the code and rebuild.\r\n\r\n This tech has been especially awesome for a few of my quieter students who don't always love traditional writing or reading assignments. One student in particular, who usually keeps to themselves, completely came out of their shell during our coding sessions. They ended up stepping right up to help their classmates debug their programs and design stronger support towers for the marble runs. Seeing their confidence skyrocket like that has meant the world to me, and none of it would have been possible without your support!","fullyFundedDate":1773764717374,"projectUrl":"project/wired-wonders-discovering-robotics/9904846/","projectTitle":"Wired Wonders: Discovering Robotics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bonds","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10354011"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16658","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":259,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":62,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"5.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.9,"schoolId":16658,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Montgomery Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Montgomery Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/north-east-independent-school-district/montgomery-elementary-school/16658"}
