I love it when students find a book or genre that \"speaks\" to them. This year, I was happy to hear a student tell me that the book he selected for one of our honors literature circles has been the \"best book he has ever read.\" Another student told me that my class introduced her to her favorite author (Agatha Christie). Yet another student has discovered that she enjoys memoirs of marginalized women now that she has been able to borrow some from my in-class library. I would not have heard these stories if I had not been able to provide a wide-range of literature for my students to access. \r\n\r\nOne way that I hope to instill a lifelong love of reading is to offer a degree of choice to my students. Every Free-Read Friday, students get to select any book they wish to read for 15 - 20 minutes in class. They can bring one from home or select one from my shelf.\r\nThe funds that you provided were instrumental in building up my classroom library and in increasing my stock of literature circle books.","fullyFundedDate":1763160552093,"projectUrl":"project/ms-moody-won-an-award/9880919/","projectTitle":"Ms. Moody Won an Award","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moody","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10345181"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58585","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1354,"numTeachers":73,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"8 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":41.0,"schoolId":58585,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Montgomery County High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Montgomery County High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/montgomery-county-school-district/montgomery-co-high-school/58585"}
