Thanks to you, our kindergarten library has grown into a place full of curiosity, joy, and opportunity. Your contributions have brought high-quality books and meaningful early literacy materials into the hands of students who truly need them.\r\n\r\nOur classroom serves children from a predominantly low-income neighborhood, and many of my students do not have access to books or early reading tools at home. Your donation ensured that every child now has the chance to build a strong foundation in reading—something that will support them throughout their entire educational journey.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions has been the Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs. These tubs give students a hands-on way to connect letters with sounds. Kinder learners thrive with concrete objects, and watching them explore these tubs has been incredible. They hold each object, say the sound aloud, and make connections that help solidify early phonics skills. What used to feel abstract for many students is now becoming familiar and fun. I've already noticed increased confidence during small-group instruction and literacy centers. Students who once hesitated to say letter sounds are now eager to participate.\r\n\r\nThe new books you helped provide have also made a tremendous difference. Our expanded class library now includes stories across a variety of subjects, cultures, and interests. This means every child can find a book that reflects who they are—or introduces them to something new. I've watched students light up when they discover a book about animals, emotions, science, friendship, or simply a topic they've never explored before. These moments help students grow not only academically but socially as well. Books spark conversations, curiosity, and kindness in ways that are beautiful to witness.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students have the tools they need to become strong, lifelong readers. They are able to practice phonics skills daily, explore meaningful texts, and develop early literacy habits that will carry them beyond kindergarten. The impact of these resources is already visible in their engagement and growing independence, and it will continue to benefit them for years to come.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students more than just materials—you've given them confidence, access, and a belief that their learning matters. Thank you for investing in their future and for helping me create a classroom where every child has the opportunity to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1758822991349,"projectUrl":"project/early-literacy-for-future-readers/9518416/","projectTitle":"Early Literacy for Future Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jessica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9248353_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693672998180","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9248353"},{"teacherId":9248353,"projectId":9313140,"letterContent":"When my kindergarten students first walked into our classroom after the new resources had arrived, the energy in the room was unforgettable. The first thing they noticed was the bright, welcoming rug. Each child quickly discovered their own color spot, and it instantly became more than just a place to sit — it became a place to belong. The moment they realized they each had their own spot, you could hear their excitement in the gasps and little cheers. One student whispered, \"This is MY spot!\" with the biggest smile. The rug has already helped create structure, calm, and joy in our daily routines, giving students both personal space and a sense of community.\r\n\r\nWe have also begun using the \"Spot of Emotion\" books as part of our weekly lessons. Every Friday, we gather on our new rug, and I read aloud from the series. The children are absolutely captivated. They listen with wide eyes, eagerly raising their hands to share moments when they've felt the same emotions as the characters. These books are helping them realize that feelings are normal and manageable, and that everyone experiences them. One of my students shared after a story, \"I feel like the blue spot sometimes when I miss my mom.\" That moment opened the door for others to share their own experiences. The books are not just teaching literacy skills — they are building empathy, emotional vocabulary, and connection among peers.\r\n\r\nThe reaction from my students when they first saw all the new materials was priceless. They were wide-eyed and completely amazed. For young children, even small additions to the classroom feel magical, but these resources truly transformed the space. Their excitement reinforced how much your support means. They recognized right away that something special had been given to them, and they've treated the materials with pride and care.\r\n\r\nLooking forward, our next steps involve continuing to build emotional regulation through regular lessons with the \"Spot of Emotion\" books. Every Friday's lesson introduces a new feeling, paired with discussions, role-playing, and activities to help children practice responses. The calming strips support these lessons throughout the week by giving students a tangible tool to reinforce what they've learned. Over time, my hope is that my students will carry these strategies beyond the classroom — using them at home, on the playground, and in the future as lifelong learners.\r\n\r\nThese resources are more than just books and classroom tools. They are helping to shape kind, empathetic, confident little humans. Thanks to your generosity, my students have a safe and supportive space to grow both academically and emotionally. From the gasps of joy on the first day to the quiet moments of calm when feelings get too big, your gift has touched every part of our classroom. Thank you for making such a lasting impact on my students' lives.","fullyFundedDate":1755649905397,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-support-in-kindergarten/9313140/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Support in Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jessica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9248353_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693672998180","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9248353"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104498","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":282,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"21.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":104498,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Monarch Montessori of Denver on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Monarch Montessori of Denver","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/denver-public-school-district-1/monarch-montessori/104498"}
