The arrival of our new supplies scented colored pencils, and a variety of UNO card decks including Mario Bros., Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even a giant‑sized UNO set has made a tangible difference in my students' daily school experience.\r\n\r\nPencils may seem like a small thing, but in a middle school classroom, they are the lifeblood of learning. They are the tools that turn ideas into words, numbers, and art. . With the addition of Smencils and other fun, high‑quality pencils, students are not only equipped but excited to write. The playful scents from fruity to sweet, spark curiosity and smiles. That extra sensory element has turned a basic classroom supply into something students look forward to using, which in turn keeps them more engaged and focused on their work.\r\n\r\nThe UNO cards have been just as impactful, but in a different way. On days when the weather keeps us indoors whether it's a heat‑modified schedule or a rainy afternoon that keeps us from outdoor P.E. activities, these decks have become a go‑to activity. Instead of restless energy and boredom, I see groups of students gathered around tables, laughing, and strategizing. The themed decks add an extra layer of fun, especially for students who are fans of Mario or the Ninja Turtles. The giant UNO deck has been a particular hit, there's something about holding those oversized cards that makes the game feel larger than life.\r\n\r\nBeyond the fun, these games are building important social skills. Students are practicing turn‑taking, patience, and good sportsmanship. They're learning how to handle both winning and losing gracefully. I've seen quieter students open up during a game, and new friendships form over shared laughter. For some, these moments are valuable, they're opportunities to connect, communicate, and feel part of a community.\r\n\r\nIt's easy to underestimate the power of small joys in a school setting, but I see every day how they add up. A pencil that smells like watermelon might seem like a novelty, but for a student who struggles to stay engaged, it can be the hook that keeps them writing. A card game might seem like just a way to pass the time, but for a student who feels isolated, it can be the bridge to belonging.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for making this possible. Your generosity has brought color, scent, laughter, and connection into our classroom and those are gifts that will last far beyond the life of a pencil or a deck of cards.","fullyFundedDate":1756237025518,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-the-fun-help-equip-our-active-lear/9543004/","projectTitle":"Fuel the Fun: Help Equip Our Active Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DA ROSA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8895651_orig.jpg?crop=1728,1728,x0,y288&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1674674775889","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8895651"},{"teacherId":6895258,"projectId":9235116,"letterContent":"It is with a full heart that I thank you for your donations. Your gift of high‑quality bouncy balls and double dutch jump ropes has brought an incredible burst of energy, creativity, and teamwork to our physical activity time. These items are more than just equipment, they've become tools for connection, skill‑building, and joyful movement.\r\n\r\nSince their arrival, the jump ropes have sparked a wave of enthusiasm for double dutch. Students are working together to learn the timing, encouraging one another, and even inventing new routines. It's been inspiring to watch them channel their focus, cooperation, and persistence into mastering a shared challenge. The bouncy balls have been equally well‑loved; in addition to wall ball, student practice catching games, and new variations the students dream up. They've helped promote active play that is inclusive, social, and engaging for everyone.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has had an immediate and visible impact. In addition athletes using basketball gear for practice. \r\n\r\nStudents' reactions were and are pure excitement. Being gifted new gear is a fun and enthusiastic way of rolling out any sports season, especially basketball. Most importantly, students used the socks, shorts, shirts, and other gym wear. All of our new gear will go in concert with our new gymnasium which will be fully constructed in fall 2026. The MTM basketball program teaches and instills very important lessons of being and maintaining student athlete status: positive leadership on and off campus, being on a team and learning how to work together as a team, doing your job as a student in the classroom, and finally overall being a student athlete-student being first. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions to our P.E. fundraiser on DonorsChoose. Thanks to your support, my students now have access to new double dutch jump ropes, basketballs, soccer balls, and volleyballs.\r\n\r\nThe double dutch jump ropes were put to immediate use, and it's been incredible to see the enthusiasm and teamwork among the students. One class, in particular, started from scratch and worked together to learn how to turn the ropes, jump into the ropes, and jump in the ropes. Their determination and collaboration have been inspiring.\r\n\r\nOther classes have also shown great interest in double dutch, and even some of our seventh graders have expressed a desire to join in the fun. To ensure that all students can enjoy this activity, we have provided a pair of double dutch ropes to the 7th/8th grade P.E. coach.\r\n\r\nThe basketballs have excellent grip and bounce and have quickly become a favorite among the basketball students. The new soccer balls and volleyballs have also been a hit, encouraging more students to participate in these sports and stay active. The scarves are still new to several students but many of them have been practicing for an upcoming scarf juggling assignment.\r\n\r\nYour contributions have made a significant impact on our students' physical education experience, and I cannot thank you enough for providing materials that have brought excitement and joy to our classes.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity and support.
