Your donation has made it possible to provide our students with new and exciting resources that enrich their musical learning experience. Thanks to your kindness, our classroom is now filled with opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and joyful exploration through music.\r\nThe addition of the electric drum sets has truly energized our students, giving them the chance to experience rhythm and performance in a modern and engaging way. The new music books are helping us expand our curriculum, allowing students to explore a wider range of songs, styles, and cultural traditions. Beyond the instruments and books, the agility hoops and prizes have been wonderful tools for reinforcing positive behavior and encouraging teamwork, focus, and respect among our young musicians.\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are developing not only their musical skills but also their confidence, discipline, and love of learning. Your support shows them that their creativity matters and that the community believes in their potential. We received a huge classroom rug, and high-quality whiteboards with writing lines, which are things that we use every single day in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe first day that my students showed up and were able to see the new rug, there was so much excitement and glee on their faces. We had not had a rug before, and it only used floor spots. They thought having a new rug was the best thing ever, and they said it was so pretty in our classroom. It also helped tremendously with keeping them in their own space!\r\n\r\nBecause we received the items near the end of the year, they did not have a chance to use the new whiteboards. However, my class this new school year has had a chance to utilize the new whiteboards. We use them daily to practice our handwriting, letters, and sounds, sight words, writing CVC words, and writing sentences.\r\n\r\nWe finally had a chance to write in our writing journals for the first time this past week, and I can tell that all of the work that we have been doing using our whiteboards has really made a difference in their writing within their journals. They are already writing in complete sentences with finger spaces and punctuation, and they are sounding out their words.\r\n\r\nI am so proud of how hard my kids have worked, but their progress would not have been made possible without such an amazing donation. I will always be so grateful and appreciative for this company and all of the work that they do to help teachers.","fullyFundedDate":1746448396885,"projectUrl":"project/a-must-for-my-kindergarten-authors/9268923/","projectTitle":"A Must for My Kindergarten Authors!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Irwin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10004525_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745443480077","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10004525"},{"teacherId":7560632,"projectId":9244971,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your generous support toward new books for our kindergarten listening center! This project has already made such an impact in our classroom. From the moment that the new books were unpackaged and revealed, students were instantly inspired- practically begging for the next opportunity to throw on some headphones and let their minds explore! Books such Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and the Pout-Pout Fish filled our room with smiles and laughter, anticipation for the next page, and a renewed love for reading!\r\n\r\nThe listening center has created a joyful, literacy-rich environment where students see reading as fun, exciting, and worth sharing. Our students are not only eager to listen to engaging narration, but they are making connections, retelling stories, and choosing to revisit these books again and again- sometimes without headphones, just to catch one last Dr. Seuss line!\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your role in making this project possible. Your kindness and generosity is helping to plant the seeds of a lifelong love of reading in our students. Students can make paths for their peers in this singing game and get to \"cross the kingdom\" once the king or queen gives their permission. \r\n\r\nI am excited to use some of the other items that feature instruments in our upcoming instrument family unit. The unpacking of each item was a very exciting day in kindergarten. Students were begging to use the new pencil sharpener that we received. I loved hearing them chatter to one another about how well it worked and how sharp their pencils were once again! \r\nThe rolling whiteboard/easel has already been put to great use each day. I am able to add a message to the board to welcome students in the morning when they arrive. We use the mobile board during reading focus group time to blend words, spell high frequency words, and correct sentences. It is perfect for holding our big books and literacy materials for easy access while I'm moving and teaching too!\r\nI am so grateful for the TPT gift card for printing new activities and games in color to use in the classroom. I love introducing the new games to students to keep engagement and practice skills that we are learning. I included a few pictures of items that students have really enjoyed that we have printed and used in class, including some fun new Dr. Seuss games during our family literacy night. \r\nNone of this would be possible without your contributions. We had ordered our new colored rug for our classroom before the holiday break and let students know that it was on the way. When we returned back from break, our custodian carried in a GIANT rolled up package into our room. I wish I would have had my video rolling to record their squeals and screams of excitement!! They all wanted a hand in unwrapping the new rug. Immediately after rolling it out, students were spread out throughout each of the colored rectangles in complete contentment. They asked to listen to a story while they lay on the new rug with big smiles! \r\nThis new rug has allowed us to define our own space for which we stay in for learning as a whole group. Students have enough space to relax their bodies while they are seated without being too close to others. I have noticed an increase of focus as students spend less time fidgeting around in an undefined area. Another benefit is the thick texture of the carpet- it has benefited some learners who do need to wiggle their fingers/hands while they are learning. Students are able to fulfill some of that sensory need with the carpet beneath them. \r\nI read two of our new stories as read alouds in the next week to come- Sheep in a Jeep, and A Bad Case of the Stripes. These were a hit!! We were able to identify rhyming words and create our own with the first title, and illustrate our favorite part of the story after listening to A Bad Case of Stripes with Camilla Cream's unique colors in the second! Having a set of books to introduce to students in the listening center has provided much engagement. Each of the books offer bright illustrations, catchy lines and sentences, and unforgettable characters. \r\nI am incredibly grateful that you have chosen to support our students and this project. I look forward to many school years to come when I can continue to share each of these items with future students. My heart is full to see students loving learning and that is exactly what this project has helped to do. All my students Kindergarten through 5th had an opportunity to participate through modified activities and using the different weighted items. \r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was when a kinder was bench pressing the 6 lb bar and expressing how he was strong like Superman. For the older students the jump boxes were a big hit, the fact they were adjustable to different heights made them challenging for all students. \r\n\r\nI'm trying to decide what other fitness items I may need to complete my fitness circuit. There were screams of joy, some \"ooooh\" and \"ahhhhhhh\"s, and overall happiness in the classroom. My students wanted to get right to work to start displaying positive behavior to earn some of the incentives that were available!\r\nTwo of the most loved items were the scented dough and the plastic food/grocery items. After each of the students earned some of the scented dough, we used it for a hands-on activity to build our high frequency words. I was amazed at how quickly they picked up on shaping each of the letters, some of which they had not even mastered yet. \r\nAfter reading our new story, Wants vs. Needs vs. Robot, we were able to replicate a grocery story setting through dramatic play. Students took turns \"shopping\" for items that they would really need to eat and survive, discussing items that would be fun to have that they would \"want\" but not necessarily need. \r\nThe next week we met with our 4th grade reading buddies and taught them what we learned about wants vs. needs before choosing stories to enjoy with one another. The kindergarten students felt such pride to \"teach\" the older students what they learned about being considerate of others and appreciating the things that we do have in our lives. \r\nAfter the beginning of the school year we will thoroughly dive more into earning our \"Golden Tickets\" and using them to shop for items at the end of each week. It has taken time to teach expectations of behavior in the classroom and this will be the next step to completing another piece of this project. Thank you so much for your support to bring my ideas to fruition. The hands-on experiences that you have helped to provide are incredible.
