Because of your generosity, our students received a new classroom rug, flexible seating, clipboards, snacks, new recess balls, and even an inflatable Gaga Ball ring for indoor recess! Every single item has already added something special to our classroom, whether it is giving students a comfortable place to learn, making lessons more flexible, providing a snack when someone needs one, or simply giving them something fun to look forward to during recess.\r\n\r\nWhat has meant the most to me is seeing how much my students appreciate everything. Our school doesn't often get brand-new things that are just for us, so there was something incredibly special about being able to tell my students, \"This is yours! People chose to give this to our classroom because they wanted you to have it.\" They have taken so much pride in our new things, and their excitement has been contagious. The Gaga Ball ring and new recess equipment have been especially exciting, but even things as simple as our new rug and seating have made our classroom feel more comfortable and inviting.\r\n\r\nThese aren't things that will be used for one lesson and put away. They have become part of our everyday classroom and will continue benefiting my students throughout the entire school year—and future classes after them. Thank you for making my students feel seen, valued, and special. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to Coraline, Where the Red Fern Grows, Wonder, and Bridge to Terabithia. These books are giving us the opportunity to make reading more than just another subject in our school day, they are helping us build a community of readers who get to experience, discuss, question, and enjoy stories together.\r\n\r\nWe are currently reading Bridge to Terabithia during our literacy circles, and the kids are really enjoying it! We split into groups to read and discuss the story together, and students have been sharing their thoughts, making connections, asking questions, and creating projects based on what they have read. One of my favorite things has been watching them talk about the book with each other. They aren't just answering questions on a worksheet, they are having real conversations about a story, listening to their classmates' ideas, and sometimes seeing a chapter completely differently because of something another student noticed.\r\n\r\nAnd we aren't finished! As we continue through Bridge to Terabithia, students will dig deeper into the characters, themes, and events of the story while continuing their literacy-circle projects. Eventually, we will be able to bring our other new novels into our reading as well. Thank you for giving my students books they can hold in their hands, talk about with their friends, and genuinely get excited about reading. These books will be used by this class and many more classes of readers to come!","fullyFundedDate":1783885569140,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-circles-book-club/10371175/","projectTitle":"Literacy Circles/ Book Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vigil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10463536_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1783571405723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10463536"},{"teacherId":10463536,"projectId":10371201,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making this project possible for my students! Because of your generosity, our classroom now has community supplies that every student can access, as well as personal-care items that students can use privately when they need them. My students were SO excited when the supplies arrived! What may seem like simple things—pencils, snacks, hygiene items, or other everyday necessities, make such a huge difference in helping kids feel comfortable, prepared, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts of this project is that these resources belong to everyone. A student never has to explain why they don't have something or feel singled out for needing help. If someone needs a school supply, it's there. If someone forgot a snack, we have one. If a student needs something personal, they can access it discreetly. We are have built our individual \"I Forgot Bags\" and our \"Take What You Need Closet,\" where students can find necessities such as socks, gloves, jackets, backpacks, and other items when they need them.\r\n\r\nMore than anything, you helped me create the kind of classroom I want my students to walk into every morning, a place where they know they belong, their needs matter, and they can focus on being kids and learning instead of worrying about what they don't have. Thank you for investing in my students and helping me take care of the whole child, not just the student sitting at a desk. Your kindness will continue making a difference in our classroom all year long.","fullyFundedDate":1783885568752,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-supplies/10371201/","projectTitle":"Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vigil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10463536_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1783571405723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10463536"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56795","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":83,"numTeachers":8,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":82,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":45.5,"schoolId":56795,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Milford Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Milford Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/geary-county-unified-school-district-475/milford-elementary-school/56795"}
