Your generosity has helped create a meaningful opportunity for students to practice real-world skills in an authentic setting. Through the snack cart, students are developing communication and social skills as they interact with teachers and staff, while also learning about money, budgeting, counting, making change, responsibility, teamwork, and customer service. What started as a snack cart has become a way for our students to build confidence, meaningful relationships, and a stronger sense of community. Every snack sold provides another opportunity for our students to learn, grow, and make a positive impact on the adults they serve.\r\nOne of the most special parts of this project is that your generosity helps create a program designed to sustain itself. The money earned from snack sales is recycled back into the cart to purchase more inventory, allowing students to continue operating the business and learning these valuable skills without relying on continuous outside funding. Your initial investment has the potential to make an impact far beyond the original donation, creating a cycle of learning, earning, serving, and reinvesting. Thank you for believing in our students, supporting their growth, and helping us build a program that will continue to positively impact both our students and the teachers and staff who have become part of their journey.","fullyFundedDate":1780169798184,"projectUrl":"project/student-entrepreneurs/10310195/","projectTitle":"Student Entrepreneurs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Franklin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9574549"},{"teacherId":6489949,"projectId":10235151,"letterContent":"This project helped students see how math can be used in the real world. The math fluency supplements have helped students practice essential math facts, improve their accuracy and speed, and build confidence when solving problems.\r\n\r\nSince using these materials, I have seen students become more motivated and willing to participate in reading and math activities. They feel proud when they see their improvement, and their confidence in their abilities continues to grow.\r\n\r\nThis project has helped create a more supportive and engaging learning environment where students can practice important skills at their own pace while receiving the guidance they need to succeed. We have already been putting our new materials to work during math and science. Having hands-on resources gives my students the opportunity to move beyond simply completing a worksheet and instead build, explore, problem-solve, and learn together. One of my favorite moments has been watching students work with the materials at their tables, discussing their thinking and helping one another when something does not work the first time.\r\nThe students were so excited when they saw the new materials! There is something special about telling them, \"These were purchased just for you.\" They love knowing that people outside of our classroom believe in them and want them to have the tools they need to be successful. The excitement has carried over into our lessons, and I have seen students who sometimes hesitate during math or science become much more willing to participate when they can learn through hands-on experiences.\r\nAs we continue through fifth grade, these resources will be used throughout our math and science units for small-group instruction, collaborative challenges, experiments, and independent practice. Our next steps are to continue building students' confidence as mathematicians and scientists while encouraging them to explain their thinking, learn from mistakes, and become more independent problem-solvers. The pencils ensure every student is prepared and ready to learn each day without stress over missing supplies.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase markers have been a favorite because we use whiteboards almost every day during small group instruction and whole-group review. Students love being able to quickly solve problems, show their work, and correct mistakes without fear of \"messing up.\" It has made math much more engaging and interactive. The headphones have also been a game changer during station rotations, allowing students to independently complete i-Ready lessons, Google Classroom assignments, and targeted review activities without distractions.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited—especially about the headphones and fresh supplies. Many of my students attend a Title I school, so having their own classroom resources made them feel valued and supported. They immediately started asking when they could use them and thanked me for making sure they had what they needed to be successful.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are continuing to prepare for Georgia Milestones testing while building confidence and independence in math and science. Students are using these materials daily during review stations, collaborative problem solving, and intervention groups.
