Because of your generosity, our class had the opportunity to read Sunshine, a graphic memoir by Jarrett J. Krosoczka. Every single student actually finished the book and participated in class discussions, even our more reluctant readers and our ELL students. All students completed a multi-paragraph essay about the book's meaningful themes and engaging format. Our school librarian even connected us with another high school in Texas that is hosting a virtual book talk about Sunshine this spring. We've heard that the author might actually be joining our virtual discussion. How cool is that? Thanks for helping to make all these great things possible for our current and future students! We truly appreciate your kindness! Here are some messages from our class:\r\n\r\nThank you for donating to give me the opportunity to read this amazing book. I learned that you shouldn't give a certain group of people stereotypes before you meet that group.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for donating the books! It was a great well written book. Sunshine was full of great messages and was truly inspiring. It was a great book and I am glad I was able to get the chance to read it.\r\n\r\nOne thing I really liked about this book is how they expressed their feelings to each other and how they all got along. THe book was really well written and is a really good book for all ages to read. Thank you so much!!\r\n\r\nThank you for giving me a book that taught me a lot about life and death. I learned that death is a part of life and that you can still use all your memories of the person you lose. Thanks for donating this book to us. I will forever be grateful!\r\n\r\nThank you all for donating money to let us read a new book and not making us read old books!\r\n\r\nI would like to say thank you. In this real story, Jarrett goes to the Sunshine camp. He spends all summer time accompanying children with cancer .Children who have cancer are still lively and happy and also enjoy their life. It's an important thing which we should learn. In the camp, children help each other. Let me know the power of the team and how friendly they are. All in all, it is a great book. It lets us understand life is full of hope. \r\n\r\nIt was cool having a book that was accessible to everyone.
