Because of your generosity, my students were able to experience the incredible process of chicks hatching right in our classroom. They were excited, curious, and completely captivated as they watched the eggs in the incubator each day. When the chicks finally began to hatch, the room filled with cheers — and a few happy tears. For some students, it was the first time they had ever witnessed something like that.\r\nNow that the chicks have hatched, students check in with them daily to see how much they've grown. They love observing their changes, talking about what they notice, and feeling responsible for caring about another living thing.\r\nOne moment that really showed the impact of this project happened when a student asked if we were going to hatch chicks again this year. When I said yes, he jumped up and shouted, \"Yes!\" His excitement says it all — this experience truly made science come alive for my students.\r\nThank you for making this unforgettable learning opportunity possible. Your support helped spark curiosity, wonder, and a deeper love of learning in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1760878214659,"projectUrl":"project/eggcent-viewing/9833441/","projectTitle":"Eggcent Viewing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nikki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10031614_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749742259502","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031614"},{"teacherId":9810924,"projectId":9470693,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Because of you, my students and I are already using the items I was gifted every day.\r\n\r\nThe clear shelves have helped organize my space and make materials more accessible, which has increased student independence. The laminating paper has allowed me to create durable visual supports and SEL tools that students can use repeatedly. One favorite moment so far has been using the feelings dominoes and \"Learn About Feelings\" activity set during a small-group social-emotional lesson—students were excited to match emotions and practice identifying how they feel in a fun, low-pressure way. The yoga ball has quickly become a favorite sensory support, helping students regulate their bodies while staying engaged.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were visibly excited and curious. They immediately wanted to explore the social-emotional tools, and asked questions about how the new seating and shelves would be used.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building on social-emotional learning by using the feelings game/sets to practice emotional expression, turn-taking, and communication. The laminated visuals will support ongoing lessons, and the organized classroom setup will help students focus and feel comfortable in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom. They immediately began touching the tiles, bouncing gently on the peanut ball, and trying out the balance board—asking if they could use them during our next session.\r\n\r\nA memorable moment happened when one of my students, who is usually hesitant to enter new spaces, walked in, noticed the colorful tiles, and said, \"This looks so cool—I want to try!\" That simple invitation encouraged peers to join in, turning our first use of the materials into a shared, positive experience.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using the new tools to help students practice self-regulation and social skills. The fidgets and sensory items give them ways to calm and focus before we start problem-solving, while the snacks and small candies provide a fun motivator to complete assigned tasks. Next, we'll integrate the balance board and peanut ball into structured \"movement breaks,\" allowing students to release energy and refocus before tackling more challenging social or emotional lessons.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made my social work room an even safer, more engaging space for students at our behavioral day school. These resources will continue supporting meaningful conversations, skill-building, and calmer transitions every single day.
