Your kindness provided so much more than new books—it gave my students opportunities to discover the joy of reading and experience the power of great stories.\r\n\r\nThroughout the challenge, I watched students become genuinely excited about reading. They eagerly discussed books with one another, shared recommendations, and celebrated each other's accomplishments. Reading became more than an assignment; it became a shared experience that fostered curiosity, conversation, and a sense of community within our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity was evident not only in their enthusiasm but also in their academic growth. Throughout the year, multiple data points showed meaningful improvements in their reading skills, reflecting the increased time, motivation, and confidence they developed as readers. Your contribution played an important role in helping make that growth possible.\r\n\r\nPerhaps even more importantly, the books you provided immersed my students in a wide variety of perspectives and experiences. Some stories challenged them to see the world through someone else's eyes, while others resonated deeply with their own lives and experiences. These meaningful connections sparked thoughtful discussions, built empathy, and reminded them that books have the unique ability to both open doors to new worlds and help us better understand our own.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of literacy and for investing in the lives of our students. Your generosity has left a lasting impact that extends well beyond this year's Reading Olympics challenge. The excitement, growth, and love of reading you helped inspire will continue to benefit our students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1763321744378,"projectUrl":"project/reading-olympics/9614221/","projectTitle":"Reading Olympics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gammella","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9524189"},{"teacherId":8645641,"projectId":9598006,"letterContent":"Thank you again for supporting Parkside Middle School's Spanish classroom. We have been able to enhance the students' learning by using more resources in lessons. We recently taught numbers and money in Spanish. We were able to set up a \"store\" where students were able to use the play money, request play food, count the money in Spanish, and make change. It was fun to see how each student was able to divide up their resources to purchase things like manzanas (apples), naranjas (oranges) or empanadas. This was possible thanks to your generous donation of play money and food.\r\nWe have been able to create a multitude of resources for the room with the new laminator. New posters and signs are up all around the room to reinforce vocabulary and grammar in Spanish. The laminator also has allowed students' work to be saved for the next semesters to show future students how to complete assignments. We just finished a unit on creating Alebrijes, spirit animals from Mexican culture that combine the features of several different animals. This we combined with watching the movie Coco and learning about the tradition of Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Students learned about the Mexican tradition of making papel picado, colorful cut out flags, that we hung up around the school to share with the whole student body.\r\nThe resources we received have served to enrich the learning experience of my students. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much. ¡Muchísimas gracias! This gift will keep on giving, over the following semesters and years as more students get a chance to learn Spanish through play, allowing them to expand their horizons and grow their experiences with the world and cultures around them.","fullyFundedDate":1755692509361,"projectUrl":"project/learn-spanish-through-play/9598006/","projectTitle":"Learn Spanish Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gifford-Cedeño","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8645641_orig.jpg?crop=2610,2610,x191,y10&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755210407108","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8645641"},{"teacherId":9302299,"projectId":9280118,"letterContent":"Thank you for the gift of organization for my classroom. These chair pockets have allowed me to let my students leave items close at hand, but not have the need to keep it in their backpack. \r\nSince we do not have lockers available, the kids keep their stuff with them all day. Last year I had disorganized shelves. This year, I was able to remove the shelves from the room, which also created more space for the students. \r\nThe funding also got us new personal white boards. As a math teacher, I am using the white boards daily to get the kids doing their own calculations and figuring out the equations. It meant a lot that I could start the school year with breand new white boards. \r\nThank you for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1746785928047,"projectUrl":"project/chair-pockets-for-organization-and-white/9280118/","projectTitle":"Chair Pockets for Organization and Whiteboards for Activities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fuller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9302299_orig.jpg?crop=1768,1768,x0,y264&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721174380946","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9302299"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_80231","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":775,"numTeachers":60,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":12,"gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":62.7,"schoolId":80231,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Middle School at Parkside on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Middle School at Parkside","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-hampshire/school-administrative-unit-37/middle-school-at-parkside/80231"}
