Purchasing specialized technology like a TI-84 calculator is simply not feasible for many families in my school. Your support provided my students with a fundamental tool they otherwise would not have had access to.\r\n\r\nIn an advanced science classroom like AP Chemistry, these calculators serve a very practical purpose that goes beyond simple computation. During complex units, such as chemical kinetics, students are required to analyze rate laws using graphical methods. Before we had the TI-84s, students spent most of their class time bogged down in lengthy, multi-step manual calculations. With the graphing calculators, students can quickly plot data and run linear regressions. This shifts their focus from basic calculations to scientific interpretation, thereby helping them understand what a linear trend line actually reveals about a chemical reaction.\r\n\r\nWhat excited the students most was the immediate visual feedback. Instead of spending twenty minutes working through calculations on paper only to end up unsure of their results, they could instantly visualize the data on screen. The students who warmed to the technology fastest were those who had historically felt intimidated by the heavy math requirements of the course. Their confidence grew noticeably, and they began engaging much more actively in lab discussions.\r\n\r\nThe practical impact of your gift was clearly reflected in our results on the May 2026 AP Chemistry exam: all but one student in the class earned a qualifying score of 3 or higher. The best we've had in years!\r\n\r\nThank you for investing directly in my classroom. Having access to the right tools made a measurable difference in my students' confidence, their understanding of chemistry, and their academic success.","fullyFundedDate":1771895543384,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-of-ap-chemistry/9868100/","projectTitle":"Calculators of AP Chemistry!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9634913"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65845","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1320,"numTeachers":68,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.6,"schoolId":65845,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mesa Ridge High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mesa Ridge High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/widefield-school-district/mesa-ridge-high-school/65845"}
