As soon as the books started arriving in my classroom and my students, who are bilingual, saw the Spanish titles, they lit up. My students were begging me to open the books so they could start to read them. The day I opened them up and had them ready for the class, my students bombarded the class library. \r\n\r\nThe true impact was felt at parent teacher conferences when parents shared how exciting it was for them to be able to read a book with their student in English and Spanish (as many of the books have both languages in them). Prior to that, most of the books were only in English so my families who primarily understand Spanish were not able to follow up with as in-depth comprehension discussions. \r\n\r\nThank you again. You have inspired a whole class full of students to read again and have immersed them into new worlds that are inspirational and aspirational.","fullyFundedDate":1735659489143,"projectUrl":"project/bilingual-books-for-bilingual-students/8731613/","projectTitle":"Bilingual Books for Bilingual Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodenfels","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6636648"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41262","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":317,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":70,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.2,"schoolId":41262,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mesa Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mesa Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/westminster-public-schools/mesa-elementary-school/41262"}
