We began by exploring the solar system models as a whole class, and then students worked in small groups to demonstrate how the Earth rotates on its axis, how the Moon orbits the Earth, and how both revolve around the Sun. One of my favorite moments was watching students use academic vocabulary like rotation, revolution, orbit, and axis while explaining seasons to their classmates, which were concepts that had previously been difficult for them to visualize from a textbook and videos alone.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were thrilled. They were eager to explore and immediately began asking higher-level questions such as why the Moon appears to change shape and how Earth's movement affects day and night. The models sparked instant curiosity and supported multiple learning styles by combining visuals with clear explanations. The Earth science posters have become daily reference tools during both science and reading lessons. The organized bins have also helped me manage materials, which has allowed me too cover more science in the same amount.\r\n\r\nThese materials will also remain an important part of our classroom for years to come, allowing future classes of fifth graders to experience the same hands-on, engaging science learning. Thanks to your generosity, my students are not just memorizing facts about space, they are building deeper understanding through inquiry, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion.","fullyFundedDate":1763589255564,"projectUrl":"project/future-super-scientists/9778986/","projectTitle":"Future Super Scientists","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Goodsnyder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9631068_orig.png?crop=506,506,x0,y18&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756320072435","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9631068"},{"teacherId":9631068,"projectId":9230749,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! Because of your generosity, my students will now have access to nutritious snacks that help them stay focused, energized, and ready to learn throughout the day.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, school meals are their main source of nutrition, and the long gap between breakfast and lunch can make it difficult to concentrate. Thanks to you, no student will have to struggle through lessons on an empty stomach. Instead, they'll be able to grab a healthy snack and return to their learning with renewed energy and focus.\r\n\r\nYour kindness is doing more than filling stomachs—it's sending a powerful message that every child deserves the chance to learn and thrive. You are helping us create a classroom community where students feel cared for and supported, and that makes all the difference.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful for your generosity and the lasting impact it will have on our classroom. The beginning of the school year sets the tone for everything that follows, and because of you, my students will start off feeling celebrated, valued, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe personalized name tags and desk plates you helped provide will do more than just mark a spot on a desk, they will help students learn each other's names, build connections, and feel that they belong in our classroom community. These small touches send a big message: you are important here, and this is your space to grow.\r\n\r\nThe birthday surprises will bring even more joy to our classroom. Whether it's a certificate, a fun pencil, or a little treat, these celebrations remind each child that who they are matters, not just on their birthday, but every day. For many of my students, these moments of recognition are memories they carry with them long after the day is over.\r\n\r\nYour donation is helping me create the kind of classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school. The impact has been immediate and meaningful, more than I could have imagined.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were so excited to see the glitter, bottles, and sensory items. Their eyes lit up as I explained that we'd be creating something just for them. This is something they could use whenever they were feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just needed a moment to reset. As we made the calming jars together, one student quietly said, \"This is the most peaceful I've felt all week.\" That moment really stuck with me. They could not wait to take them home and share with their families. \r\n\r\nThe calming jars have already become a trusted part of our classroom routine. Students now take ownership of their emotions by choosing to step into the calming corner, shake a jar, and take slow, mindful breaths as the glitter settles. It's beautiful to watch them practice self-regulation and see how something so simple can make such a big difference in their day. This project has laid the foundation for lifelong tools that support not just academic growth, but emotional well-being too.\r\n\r\nThank you for making these little moments of peace possible. I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous support of our classroom project. Because of you, my students now have access to engaging math games, interactive workbooks, and an amazing giant magnetic poster that's transformed the way we explore graphing and area.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the classroom was electric the day the materials arrived. As we unpacked the games and colorful workbooks, the students could hardly believe these were for them. One student exclaimed, \"This makes math way more fun!\" This joy and excitement hasn't worn off since.\r\n\r\nWe recently used the giant magnetic graphing poster during a unit on area and perimeter, and it has completely changed the way we interact with these concepts. Students took turns creating shapes and calculating their area using unit square, turning a once challenging topic into something visual, collaborative, and fun. The hands-on element has made a huge difference for my visual and kinesthetic learners.\r\n\r\nWe've also introduced weekly math game rotations using the new materials. These games reinforce skills like multiplication, fractions, and place value in ways that feel like play, but they're packed with learning. I've seen students who used to shy away from math light up with confidence and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for bringing these tools into our classroom. Your generosity has helped create a math environment filled with excitement, curiosity, and growth.
