Your generosity has helped us bring meaningful, hands-on learning experiences to life.\r\nWith the resources provided, our students were able to conduct laboratory experiments and capture images of their results. This experience has gone far beyond a simple science lesson—it has allowed students to engage in observation, data interpretation, and meaningful discussion around real-world findings. By photographing and sharing their lab results, they've learned how to communicate scientific information effectively and responsibly in digital formats.\r\nThis project also strengthens students' literacy through digital media. As they review, read, and analyze their results, they practice interpreting visual and written information. The process of documenting findings with technology encourages them to express their ideas clearly and confidently, bridging science, communication, and media literacy in powerful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1760792615451,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-through-media/9834166/","projectTitle":"Literacy Through Media","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Webb","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10314243"},{"teacherId":7925117,"projectId":9406335,"letterContent":"Scientific calculators are an essential tool for student success in middle school math, supporting accuracy, efficiency, and deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. This project will restock our classroom with reliable scientific calculators so every student has access to the tools they need during daily lessons, assessments, and problem-solving activities. With consistent access, students can focus on reasoning and strategy rather than being limited by unavailable or outdated equipment.\r\n\r\nHaving individual access to calculators allows students to check work, explore patterns, and tackle more complex, real-world math problems with confidence. Calculators support learning across topics such as fractions, decimals, percents, exponents, and algebraic thinking, while also helping students build responsible tool use and mathematical independence. For many students, these tools reduce anxiety and increase engagement during challenging tasks.\r\n\r\nBy funding this project, you are ensuring equitable access to essential math resources and creating a classroom environment where all students can participate fully. Through real-world math tasks, students will practice reading carefully, identifying key information, and determining the best strategies to solve meaningful problems. By engaging with math in context, students gain a deeper understanding of concepts rather than relying on memorization or guess-and-check methods.\r\n\r\nAs students work through these activities, they will build confidence in explaining their thinking using both words and numbers. Discussing strategies, justifying answers, and learning from mistakes encourages persistence and critical thinking. These experiences help students see math as something they can understand and apply, not something to fear.\r\n\r\nUltimately, this project prepares students to be thoughtful, independent learners who can approach complex problems with confidence. The skills developed—logical reasoning, comprehension, and clear communication—support success across content areas and equip students with tools they will use well beyond the math classroom.\r\n\r\nIf you want, I can also tailor this specifically to middle school, honors classes, or testing readiness, or condense it slightly if DonorsChoose flags length.","fullyFundedDate":1760718826772,"projectUrl":"project/real-world-math-building-problem-solver/9832427/","projectTitle":"Real-World Math: Building Problem Solvers Through Literacy and Logic","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Knott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7925117"},{"teacherId":9789056,"projectId":9830984,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have daily access to hands-on math literacy tools that have transformed how we learn and practice math concepts. The dry erase markers, erasers, and reusable write-and-wipe pockets have allowed every student to actively participate during lessons by showing their thinking, revising answers, and explaining their reasoning in writing. These tools have been especially powerful during problem-solving discussions, where students practice math vocabulary, justify their answers, and build confidence communicating their ideas.\r\n\r\nThe real-world math games and life skills math books immediately sparked curiosity and meaningful conversations as students worked through scenarios that connect math to everyday decision-making. The flexible seating cushions have also made a noticeable difference by helping students stay focused and engaged, especially during longer lessons or independent work time. Students are more comfortable, attentive, and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we are using these resources to deepen our work with real-world math applications, written explanations, and collaborative problem-solving. The supplies allowed me to create master binders for each unit that house our technology-based curriculum in a clear, physical format. Using binders, dividers, binder folders, sheet protectors, and mesh pouches, I was able to organize lessons, reference materials, and task cards in a way that makes instruction more efficient and intentional. This structure supports my teaching by pairing digital lessons on student iPads with consistent, well-organized visuals and materials I can model and reference during instruction. Chargers and a computer monitor ensure reliable access to online curriculum and allow me to display examples and guide students step by step.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is how interactive and clear lessons have become. Dry erase markers allow students to practice problems directly on their desks, make changes quickly, and engage without the pressure of permanent mistakes. The task cards, created on card stock and organized by unit, feel more like challenges than worksheets and encourage discussion, problem-solving, and academic vocabulary. Students are more willing to participate because they can see the progression of skills and understand how each activity fits into the larger unit.\r\n\r\nThis organization has especially helped students who need structure and repeated exposure to concepts. When lessons are clearly sequenced and consistently presented, students who struggle with focus or processing are better able to follow along and stay engaged. Students who are comfortable with technology but need reinforcement benefit from seeing concepts taught digitally and then reinforced through hands-on, teacher-led activities. Overall, these supplies allowed me to deliver instruction more clearly, efficiently, and effectively, resulting in stronger engagement and deeper understanding for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1760662833368,"projectUrl":"project/7th-grade-math-literacy-improvements/9828103/","projectTitle":"7th Grade Math Literacy Improvements","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alexander","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7651763"},{"teacherId":10315542,"projectId":9837114,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and support of my classroom. Because of you, my students now have access to flexible seating options and high-quality literacy resources that have truly transformed our learning environment.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new resources daily during small-group instruction and independent practice. The flexible seating has made a noticeable difference in student engagement, especially during reading time. Since this is many students' second ELA class of the day, the change in seating helps break up the routine and keeps learning fresh and motivating. Students are more comfortable, focused, and eager to participate. One especially meaningful moment was watching students rotate through reading stations, fully engaged in decoding and fluency activities, choosing seating that helped them stay focused and excited about reading.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. They were immediately excited about the flexible seating and couldn't wait to try it out. Many shared how much more comfortable and focused they felt. The Lake Shore Learning decoding and fluency resources also sparked instant enthusiasm. Students were eager to explore the hands-on materials, and the interactive nature of the resources made learning feel fun and accessible rather than overwhelming.\r\n\r\nThese Lake Shore Learning decoding and fluency resources have allowed for hands-on, highly interactive learning that has been both effective and engaging. Students are actively practicing skills, building confidence, and applying strategies in a meaningful way rather than passively completing worksheets. The growth in fluency and student confidence has been truly rewarding to see.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue using these resources to strengthen decoding and fluency skills through targeted small-group instruction, repeated reading, and independent practice.
