The results have been remarkable: improved conceptual understanding, increased student confidence, and a more collaborative classroom culture.\r\n\r\nBefore I began using manipulatives consistently, many students viewed math as a set of rules to memorize rather than ideas to explore. When students could physically build, move, and visualize numbers, they began to make meaningful connections between the concrete and abstract. \r\n\r\nThe use of manipulatives has also encouraged differentiated learning. Students who might otherwise feel anxious about math now have multiple entry points for understanding. Visual and kinesthetic learners, in particular, benefit from being able to manipulate objects to represent their thinking. The flexibility of manipulatives allows all learners to engage at their own level, making instruction more inclusive.","fullyFundedDate":1762265335981,"projectUrl":"project/math-manipulative-fun/9709753/","projectTitle":"Math Manipulative Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Clark","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8911687"},{"teacherId":8911687,"projectId":9068071,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the donation of the class set of the headphones for my kindergarten students. When the new materials arrived, my students were absolutely thrilled. Their eyes lit up at the sight of the clear containers filled with snacks and the colorful tools for building words. One student shouted, \"This looks like a treasure chest!\" as we unpacked the storage chests together. Right away, they began exploring the materials and asking how they could earn reward. It was such a joyful and motivating moment.\r\n\r\nWe've started using the phonics tools during our literacy centers, and they've made a big impact. Students are now physically building words, which has strengthened their letter recognition and phonemic awareness. It's been especially helpful for students who learn best through hands-on activities. The snack incentive system has also brought a new sense of excitement and responsibility. Students are staying focused, working hard toward their goals, and proudly choosing their rewards from the clear containers—learning valuable lessons about effort and achievement along the way.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue using these resources to reinforce our reading and behavior goals. The organized storage and visible rewards have made our classroom feel more structured, inviting, and student-centered. Thank you for helping to make learning both fun and meaningful. Your kindness has truly made a difference!","fullyFundedDate":1740699148303,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-learning-through-hands-on-int/9007021/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Learning through Hands-On, Interactive Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Landaverde","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9218739_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695517281418","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-landaverde"},{"teacherId":5170501,"projectId":8861343,"letterContent":"My students are going crazy for the William Steig books I've been reading aloud to them, thanks to your generous donations. They look forward to story time everyday from 12:00-12:15 pm. The kids gather on the rug and listen intently to the adventures the curious animals in the stories will quest upon. The children always make predictions about what will happen next in the stories. I alway project the text on my big screen so the kids can read along as I read to them.\r\n\r\n After each story, the kids get to draw pictures of their favorite part of the book. Many loved the part where Amos, the little scared mouse, climbed onto Boris' back. Boris is a whale. The kids were so intrigued with how a giant whale could help a tiny mouse. We compared the story with the famous Aesop Fable of the Lion and the Mouse. Are you familiar with that story. My students can't wait to find out what happens in our next read aloud, which will be about an adventurous minstrel pig who goes out into the world to share his musical talents with the king. Many of my students are anxious to get their hands on my books and try yo read them by themselves. This is amazing for my 7 year old students. It's a win, win.
