My original goal was to begin group therapy for students who have experienced the loss or absence of a parent. While I quickly learned there are many logistical barriers to formally launching that program, your support still allowed me to reach students in powerful and immediate ways.\r\n\r\nThe materials you provided helped transform my classroom into a safe and welcoming space for students navigating anxiety, grief, and difficult home situations. From mental health coloring books to creative classroom projects, students were able to express themselves in ways that felt comfortable and non-threatening. One of the most impactful moments was our \"Land of Misfits\" door project, where each student created a character to represent themselves. This activity gave them a sense of belonging and ownership in the classroom. We continued these creative expressions through seasonal themes, and students consistently shared how much they loved being able to contribute to a space that felt like their own.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate—excitement, curiosity, and, for some, relief. Many students who typically struggle to engage began participating through art and quiet activities. I also made grief and mental health resources openly available, allowing students to approach them at their own pace. Often, a student would initially take a coloring book or sit quietly, only to return later ready to talk or simply spend time in a supportive environment.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I have been able to support not only my own students but many others who seek out this space for comfort, advice, or simply someone to listen. Several students who once struggled to stay in school due to anxiety and lack of support are now on track to graduate—some after years of setbacks. The next step is to continue building on this foundation by incorporating more structured emotional support opportunities and expanding access to these resources so even more students can benefit.\r\n\r\nYour impact goes far beyond materials—you have helped create a place where students feel seen, supported, and capable of success.\r\n\r\nP.S. \r\nAttached are pictures of the classroom and books.
