I love gathering the students on the rug for a read-aloud where students see examples of what we might be doing before they head to their tables to begin working. During our unit on Keith Haring, students referenced the book's bold illustrations to analyze movement lines before designing their own expressive figure drawings. These books stay open on studio tables, acting as visual reminders while the kids create.\r\nI have also been able to allow students to choose reading Art books as an option for early finishers. The students love to sit and explore the books more closely and find examples connected to what they have been working on.
