The impact has been immediate and powerful.\r\n\r\nWhen the new supplies first arrived—deodorant, body wash, toothbrushes, feminine products, and more—our students were both surprised and grateful. One student walked in, looked around at the neatly organized shelves, and said, \"I didn't think anyone actually cared about stuff like this.\" That moment was a reminder of why this project matters so much.\r\n\r\nWe're using these resources every day to meet students where they are. A student who's running late and didn't get to shower can quietly grab what they need before heading to class. Others who may not have stable housing know they can come in, freshen up, and start their day with confidence. We've also created \"grab-and-go\" hygiene kits so students can discreetly take items home if needed.\r\n\r\nThis project has opened the door for deeper conversations about self-care and wellness. Our next steps include launching a peer-led wellness campaign that promotes hygiene, mental health, and healthy routines. We're also planning a \"Thrifting Thursday\" event where students can pick out clean, gently used clothes, combining both clothing and hygiene support in a single, welcoming experience.\r\n\r\nYour support made all of this possible. Your support has made a significant difference in the lives of our high school students, and I am excited to share how we've been using the resources you provided.\r\n\r\nThe LEGO sets, puzzle table, snacks, and other materials have all become vital tools in our mental health and wellness space. The LEGOs have been particularly valuable in helping students express themselves creatively and relieve stress. We've set up a corner in the Wellness Center where students can build with LEGOs during moments of overwhelm. The tactile and open-ended nature of the activity helps students calm their minds and focus on the present, offering a productive break from school stress. Many students have shared how much they appreciate this quiet, mindful activity, which provides a safe space for their thoughts to slow down.\r\n\r\nThe puzzle table has also been a popular addition. Students often gather there, working together to solve puzzles while talking through challenges or simply enjoying some quiet time. It's an excellent tool for fostering connections and providing an informal, non-judgmental setting where students can engage in light conversation or just relax.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have been a great comfort as well. Many of our students come to the Wellness Center in need of a break, and having access to nourishing snacks has made a big difference in helping them feel cared for and more energized. It's a small but impactful gesture that shows our students they are valued.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw these new resources, their reactions were heartwarming. Many were excited to try out the LEGOs and puzzles, while others were grateful for the snacks, commenting how it felt like a \"homey\" and welcoming space. It was amazing to see their relief and appreciation for the thoughtful resources that had been provided.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue using these materials to support students in their mental health journeys. We are introducing mindfulness activities that combine the puzzle table and LEGO sets, allowing students to engage in calming activities while reflecting on their feelings and emotions. In addition, we'll be offering more group sessions where students can share their experiences and support each other, using these resources as part of the process.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making these moments possible. Your support is not just about providing physical items—it's about creating a safe, supportive environment where students feel heard, respected, and empowered to take care of their mental health.","fullyFundedDate":1728360608775,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-mental-health-center-help-o/8843431/","projectTitle":"High School Mental Health Center, Help Our Small Town Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jay","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9782474_orig.jpg?crop=4000,4000,x180,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738616140816","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9782474"},{"teacherId":9748313,"projectId":8778886,"letterContent":"On behalf of the students and staff at Marysville High School, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your generosity in supporting our Mental Health Matters project. Your contributions have transformed our wellness center into a warm, welcoming, and peaceful space that our students now cherish.\r\n\r\nThe center has become a hub of comfort and creativity thanks to the incredible items you provided. Students have been thrilled to use the bean bags, art supplies, cleaning supplies, printer, and the wonderful decor that brings the room to life. These resources are not only practical but have also created an environment where many students feel a sense of calm and belonging as soon as they step inside.\r\n\r\nIt has been heartwarming to see their excitement when the materials arrived. Students eagerly helped unpack and organize the items, taking ownership of their new space. They were especially delighted to assemble anything that required putting together!\r\n\r\nThese donations are making a daily impact. Whether they are relaxing in a bean bag, working on creative projects with the new markers, or simply enjoying the thoughtfully designed atmosphere, your kindness has significantly improved their school experience.
