At any given moment, I can look out into my classroom and see students leaning back in chairs, tapping their toes or pencils, wandering around, asking to work standing up, and more. They have so much energy and nowhere to put it. And to make matters worse, they must sit in the same stiff, restrictive desks for five hours a day. The change in students' whole demeanor is astounding when you give them the choice to find a comfortable place to settle in and learn. Many of my students struggle with ADHD and staying on-task. We have a great need for seating that allows students to move and release some energy in order to focus. I currently already have five wobble stools, which have ignited an energy and focus in my classroom that I had yet to see from many of my students. Your purchase of the lap desks, standing work stations, and additional wobble stools for our classroom will directly impact our day-to-day learning. It will increase focus, thereby decreasing disruptive and distracting behavior. Students will be enabled to become more engaged and focused on learning. I have had a taste of the impact a little choice and comfort makes in students' abilities to focus. I am so excited to see what new levels we can reach with these additions to our home away from home!
