The letter tracers and math manipulatives we received have become the heart of our daily learning centers, and seeing the progress my students have made in such a short time is truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nWhen I first introduced the new materials, the room was filled with excitement! My students were wide-eyed and eager to dive in, especially with the bright \"Trace & Write\" boards and the food-themed stacking manipulatives. For three-year-olds, these aren't just toys—they are \"magic\" tools that make them feel like \"big kids\" who are ready to work and learn.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we are currently using these resources to bridge the gap between play and foundational literacy. As you can see from our photos, the children are deeply engaged in hands-on exploration. Whether they are using magnetic pens to master the curves of a letter or using tweezers in the alphabet sensory bins, they are building the critical fine motor skills and muscle memory they will need for years to come. The manipulatives have also been a huge hit for practicing sequencing and sorting, turning abstract concepts into something they can physically touch and build.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to move from simple exploration to identifying the first letters of our names and mastering basic counting patterns. My partner, Ms. Vasquez, and I have noticed a significant increase in focus and social-emotional growth as the children learn to share these new trays and work together.\r\n\r\nYour support has provided the essential building blocks for my students' education. Thank you for investing in these young learners and for making our classroom a place where curiosity and growth go hand-in-hand.","fullyFundedDate":1766067043795,"projectUrl":"project/a-fresh-start-for-our-class/9751686/","projectTitle":"A Fresh Start for Our Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Menendez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10275960"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_110546","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":75,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":64,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":57.7,"schoolId":110546,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy - Takoma Park on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy - Takoma Park ","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/district-of-columbia/district-of-columbia-public-charter-school-board/mary-mcleod-bethune-16th-elc/110546"}
