Our 8th graders walked in initially unamused, carrying the fatigue of long school days and a full schedule ahead. I continued our lesson about AVID organization and explained why these skills matter for high school, college and beyond. Once students realized that the high quality, donated materials were for them, the room quickly transformed. Students became eager to assemble their binders, personalize their systems and take ownership of their learning tools.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment came when a student , who often falls behind in her school work, proudly shared that this was the first time she could actually find her papers! I could see the relief in her expression and felt proud to be a part of that moment. Small moments like these highlight how access to simple organizational tools can build confidence and set the tone for academic success. Students now consistently use their binders during the school week, at home and reinforce strong habits that AVID is build on. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue to use these materials as their work on upcoming projects for their core classes, sign up for electives for high school and prepare other important documents as they transition through their education. Their binders will serve as a central hub for organizing notes, tracking assignments and even personalization through vision board covers at the front of their binders. \r\n\r\nThank you for your contributions and making an impact in my students.","fullyFundedDate":1772546733226,"projectUrl":"project/avid-organization-supplies/10048488/","projectTitle":"AVID Organization Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arias","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8361867"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4849","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":521,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":18,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.6,"schoolId":4849,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Martin Murphy Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Martin Murphy Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/morgan-hill-unified-school-district/martin-murphy-middle-school/4849"}
