The clear door caught their attention, and within minutes a small crowd had formed. Several students were excited to recognize items that they usually only see during breakfast. One student said, \"Wait... we can grab this later too?\" That moment captured exactly what this project has done for our school.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the fridge every day to keep unopened food from breakfast and lunch safe and accessible. Students who may not feel hungry in the morning—or who hesitate to take extra food in front of peers—can now stop by later, check what's available, and take what they need discreetly. Students who used to complain about afternoon hunger are now grabbing a healthy snack before class, helping them stay focused and comfortable.\r\n\r\nAs for what's next, we're working with our student leadership team to create a \"Pantry Patrol\" role. These students will help check the fridge daily, organize items from the share table, and create simple posters encouraging others to reduce waste and take what they need. It's become not just a resource but a learning opportunity about sustainability, nutrition, and community care.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students something that supports their well-being every single day. Your contribution is already making a meaningful difference.","fullyFundedDate":1760295389336,"projectUrl":"project/a-fridge-full-of-kindness/9812269/","projectTitle":"A Fridge Full of Kindness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Evans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10105335"},{"teacherId":10105335,"projectId":9683124,"letterContent":"When we received the donated snacks, it was a true blessing. We keep these snacks available for those who need a little boost during the day—whether they haven't had breakfast, are feeling low on energy, or just need something to help them stay focused. Having this support has encouraged a more caring and comfortable space for learning.\r\n\r\nThe students were very excited when they first saw the snacks. Their faces glowed with happiness. Many expressed genuine gratitude and shared how much it meant to know that others care about them. Something as simple as a snack has made a real difference in helping students feel seen, supported, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these snacks continue to remind students that well-being and kindness matters. Our next steps include finding ways to pay that kindness forward, through thank-you notes and discussions about empathy and generosity. Thank you for helping us create a room where students feel both supported and valued.","fullyFundedDate":1760020646356,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-wellness/9683124/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Wellness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Evans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10105335"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_49062","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":841,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":49062,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Martin Luther King Junior Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Martin Luther King Junior Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/montgomery-county-public-schools/martin-luther-king-junior-mid-school/49062"}
