When the supplies arrived, my students' excitement was contagious! They couldn't wait to explore the new STEM materials and sensory tools, and their enthusiasm carried right into our lessons. Seeing their faces light up reminded me how meaningful your generosity truly is.\r\n\r\nThe STEM resources have allowed my students to learn by doing. They have worked together to build, create, solve problems, and think like engineers while strengthening important skills such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance. The sensory materials have also become an essential part of our classroom, helping students regulate their emotions, improve their focus, and feel confident participating in daily learning activities. Because of these resources, I have been able to provide more hands-on, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all learners.\r\n\r\nMy favorite thing is watching students work together to complete STEM challenges. They learned that it's okay when the first idea doesn't work, because every mistake is an opportunity to learn and improve. The confidence they have gained has carried over into reading, writing, and math, where they are now more willing to take risks and share their thinking.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these materials will remain an important part of our classroom. My students will continue using them during STEM centers, collaborative problem-solving activities, and independent learning opportunities. Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their future. Your kindness has created opportunities that will benefit them long after this school year ends.","fullyFundedDate":1782062132781,"projectUrl":"project/stem-sensory-and-success-in-first-grad/10302688/","projectTitle":"STEM, Sensory, and Success in First Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McNeill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10516949"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41828","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":505,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":12,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":54.8,"schoolId":41828,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Martin L King Junior Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Martin L King Junior Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/widefield-school-district/martin-l-king-junior-elementary-school/41828"}
