As I've mentioned before with these grants, my students often only eat some of the school lunch, and it's not enough. These snacks really do help students concentrate and have a happier school day. This also sparks my imagination, as many projects that we have done in the past can be made new again as audio projects-- that typical short story unit suddenly becomes a teleplay, with students writing, recording the parts, editing, and adding sound effects. Students are absolutely in love with the soundbar and subwoofer-- we use them constantly to play study music, watch clips, and view videos made by the students. These three--simple as they may sound-- were basically impossible with the crummy speakers that came with the SmartTV mounted to the wall. The improvement has been nothing short of transformational.\r\n\r\nLess excited to the students but not less helpful has been the addition of the clicker / laser pointer device and OfficeJet printer. I am so much more productive now that I don't need to run all the way across the building to find the usually-jammed copy machine in the teacher's lounge. I've used the new printer to print permission slips, IEP information, and all manner of other dull-yet-essential documents to keep our classroom humming. The clicker has helped me be more present throughout the room as I deliver mini-lectures on various topics, rather than glued to my desktop.\r\n\r\nI cannot begin to thank you enough for the tremendous gifts you have made to room 204.
