The magnetic letters and boards have become a favorite center activity, allowing students to practice letter recognition, word building, and early phonics skills through play-based learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our kindergarteners are excited, engaged, and developing essential literacy skills that will support them throughout their educational journey. The seasonal stories helped bring learning to life while creating excitement, comfort, and connection for our students during the winter months.\r\nReading Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer allowed students to explore themes of kindness, acceptance, and perseverance. The children connected deeply with Rudolph's journey and learned that differences make us special. These stories encouraged rich discussions, listening comprehension, and social-emotional growth as students shared their own experiences of being kind and inclusive.\r\nThe Frosty the Snowman books added magic and wonder to our literacy block. Students practiced sequencing events, retelling stories, and identifying characters and settings. Frosty's cheerful spirit helped boost engagement and inspired creative thinking, especially as children made predictions and shared their favorite parts of the story.\r\nThe Elf on the Shelf's Night Before Christmas helped strengthen print awareness and storytelling skills. The excitement of the story motivated students to participate in shared reading, ask questions, and make connections between the text and their own holiday traditions. This increased enthusiasm for reading and helped build positive associations with books.\r\nTo extend learning beyond reading, students also created clay snowmen as a hands-on activity. This project supported fine motor development, creativity, and problem-solving skills. As they shaped, designed, and described their snowmen, students practiced following directions, expressing ideas, and building confidence in their abilities. The activity also reinforced winter vocabulary and encouraged peer collaboration.\r\nOverall, this project made December learning engaging, memorable, and meaningful.
