After the devastating wildfires that destroyed our school, our students lost not only their classroom but also many of the precious memories and materials we had built throughout the year—especially their in-progress memory books. Your donation helped us end the year with joy, creativity, and a sense of closure that we didn't think would be possible.\r\n\r\nThe materials you funded—craft supplies, activities, and memory book materials—became so much more than just classroom items. They gave our kindergarteners a chance to feel normal again, to laugh, create, and reflect on their school year in a positive way. When the supplies arrived, their faces lit up with excitement and wonder. You could see their imaginations instantly spark as they pulled out colorful paper, stickers, and craft materials. It gave them something to look forward to every day.\r\n\r\nOne of the most special moments was when we began recreating our memory books. These kids had lost so much, but being able to redo these books helped them process what they'd been through and celebrate what they'd accomplished. Watching them carefully choose their favorite memories and decorate each page with love was incredibly moving—for them, for me, and for the families who will cherish these keepsakes.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we ended the school year not with sadness, but with celebration. We had a joyful classroom party with decorations and games, giving the kids the fun and closure they deserved. It meant more than I can put into words.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students will carry the resilience they've built into first grade and beyond. This project helped remind them that even after something is lost, something beautiful can still be created. Students light up when they see the vibrant letters and proudly identify the values we are practicing each day. The introduction of Magna-Tiles brought even more excitement—students immediately engaged in cooperative play, problem-solving, and creative construction. These activities provided a natural and meaningful way to practice the pillars in action.\r\n\r\nTo extend this learning, students are now using watercolor paper and brushes to illustrate themselves demonstrating the pillars in their own daily lives. I never realized at the time that our school would burn down. So much has happened since then. There has been an outpouring of love and support from across the country and that includes Y-O-U! Thank you for bringing our classroom back to a sense of normalcy.\r\n\r\nFirst of all, my students love arts & crafts! My aide was thrilled to have a replacement of our table-top paper cutter which saves us a trip to the upstairs teacher workroom. Students can easily be provided with construction paper in different sizes to cut, glue, and create! It's also helpful to me when I send home notices on half-sheets to conserve paper. I'm such a perfectionist (typical teacher) that I don't like cutting the sheets by hand!\r\n\r\nThe basketball hoop is just like the one left ash-covered on our old campus. We've been using it daily since it arrived, but it got extra attention with our recent Balls Unit where the students learned all about how balls roll and bounce!\r\n\r\nI'd never had the Whoo's Listening owl headphones before and they are an incredible upgrade to what we had previously. The kids don't complain about pinched ears or them being too big. They fit comfortably and don't fall off their little heads! \r\n\r\nFinally, I have to say that the Flex-Space floor seats are my favorite item. The kids use them during iPad time for their Lexia Core 5 Reading program. As a teacher of \"littles,\" I use one to get down on the rug for Read Aloud books. The students gather around me to get a great view of the picture book. It's so cozy...a wonderful time for bonding and sharing the joy of a good book!\r\n\r\nI hope that you know how much your kindness and generosity means to me and my students. I needed this Open House to be special for the students and their parents.\r\n By donating to Donors Choose you helped provide my students with all the Dr. Seuss books, decorations, crafts, and art supplies needed to make our room be the most outstanding room at Open House this year. By donating, you also inspired us (the 3 Kindergarten teachers) to work our hardest to achieve this goal. \r\n I am happy to say that we had 99% of the parents show up on the Open House night.
