Students have a comfortable space where they can go to reflect and recognize the emotions they are feeling. My students have began to feel more comfortable expressing their emotions and advocating for themselves when needing a moment to relax. When our Zen Zone was put together, my students had a plethora of questions! Mainly, what was it and how can they use it effectively. Throughout the year, our Zen Zone was a big hit and my students were very appreciative of it. \r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students are mainly regulating their emotions and learning how to react when they aren't feeling their best. I believe this is a vital skill they will need throughout life and learning it now will be their benefit. I've noticed that at this age students are very reactive without reflection first. My main objective was to create a safe place for my students to experience and identify that specific emotion, reflect on their actions if it was a negative or reactive one, take some deep breaths and reflect on how they can respond bette when feeling those emotions.","fullyFundedDate":1724631246028,"projectUrl":"project/second-grade-zen-zone/8684904/","projectTitle":"Second Grade Zen Zone","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Snipes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9646231_orig.jpg?crop=2750,2750,x0,y660&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724522551786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9646231"},{"teacherId":9672895,"projectId":8769161,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students and myself, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your kindness and generosity. We can all gather on the floor together for our group lessons. Our new carpet provides a defined learning area that is a soft and comfortable surface for students to sit, kneel, or lie on while reading and learning.\r\n\r\nMy scholars were overjoyed when they entered the classroom to discover that we had received our delivery! They immediately ran to the carpet to sit on it and spread out across it! We are glad to now have a space for all of our peers to fit when we gather together on the floor. They once had to squeeze to fit on the small rug that we had, and several scholars did not always make it and had to sit in a chair away from the group. Now everyone has an opportunity to join and there is plenty of space to be comfortable. \r\n \r\nThank you so much for contributing to our project and providing us with the appropriate space for everyone to learn in comfort.","fullyFundedDate":1733437626369,"projectUrl":"project/a-comfy-carpet-to-gather/8722111/","projectTitle":"A Comfy Carpet to Gather","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wesley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp850288_orig.jpg?crop=2268,2268,x0,y1065&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691620678892","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/850288"},{"teacherId":9672895,"projectId":8709845,"letterContent":"When my students and I first received the materials we were thrilled to enhance the functionality and coziness of our library area. The cleaning materials have been instrumental in maintaining a tidy and inviting space, fostering a sense of responsibility among students as they take turns caring for our shared area. The soft glow of the new lights creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making the library a favorite spot for independent and group reading. The cushions and couch have become a cozy haven where students eagerly settle in with a good book, while the rug ties everything together, providing a colorful and comfortable area for storytime and peer discussions. These resources have transformed our library into a vibrant hub of learning and relaxation, encouraging students to engage with literature in a space that feels like home.\r\n\r\nThe students' initial reactions were priceless! Their eyes lit up with excitement as they explored the upgraded library, exclaiming how \"pretty \" and \"colorful\" it looked. They eagerly picked out their favorite cushions, tested the couch, and sprawled out on the rug with books in hand. Moving forward, we plan to use this invigorated space to dive deeper into our current literacy projects. For example, we're working on identifying key details in informational texts, and the library's inviting environment has already inspired more focused participation. .
