I utilize these texts as read alouds during my groups sometimes to motivate them to learn about the topic or sometimes as a real-world connection to the topic! \r\n Students have enjoyed the humorous pictures and rhymes in the Brian Cleary books. They many resources you provided my students and I have had a direct impact on student success. Students have enjoyed using the new whisper phones, expos markers and games! \r\n\r\nThe whisper phones have been a hit! Students love hearing themselves read fluently as they are able to whisper into the phone and clearly hear themselves read. It has supported their engagement and motivation too! In turn, students have shown significant progress with their automaticity and prosody; two very important components of being a fluent reader. \r\n\r\nAlmost as beneficial has been the expo markers - I cannot tell you how many markers we go through a year - really, I should count! Students enjoy the ease of writing (and erasing) words with expo markers. This is also a motivation as pencils can cause some additional burden when writing new words, as students often need to fix a letter or two. With the ease of expo dry erase markers, students are more apt to be able to quickly fix their errors and focus more on learning the phonic skills than leaving eraser marks on their paper. \r\n\r\nTo support and continue providing positive reinforcement for good work ethic, I have incorporate games such as magnet-tiles and marble run. This fun, interactive games are played to celebrate students' progress and also build on their social development. Students think its the best part of our lessons! \r\n\r\nIn addition to the items mentioned above, the resources you have provided my students and myself do not go unnoticed. I have used every resource to better my instruction, motivate my students and best support their needs.
