With access to Sharpies and student tablets, students were able to plan, sketch, and create detailed, colorful artwork they were proud of. They used their tablets during the brainstorming phase to map out their ideas, make revisions, and collaborate with peers before finalizing their projects.\r\n\r\nOne of the highlights was hosting a gallery walk in our classroom. Students displayed their finished art pieces, walked around to observe each other's work, and took notes using their whiteboards. They wrote down observations, questions, and positive feedback for their classmates. This activity helped students develop visual literacy, constructive critique skills, and appreciation for different styles and perspectives. It turned our classroom into a space of reflection, dialogue, and celebration of creativity.\r\n\r\nThanks to the materials, I was able to transform my classroom into a creative studio that fostered both independent artistic exploration and collaborative learning. The Sharpies allowed students to bring boldness and detail to their work, while the tablets gave them a structured way to sketch and refine ideas. With the student boards, even reflective activities—like taking notes during our gallery walk—became more engaging and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThese tools supported a full creative process: planning, creating, sharing, and responding. As a result, students gained not only artistic skills but also confidence, communication abilities, and a stronger sense of classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1746582635250,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-students-through-art-present/9297469/","projectTitle":"Empowering Students Through Art, Presentations, and Leadership","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arias Kassir","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619164"},{"teacherId":9619164,"projectId":9323684,"letterContent":"This project had a powerful impact on my students' learning by promoting active engagement and collaboration. The student whiteboards provided an accessible way for students to work in pairs—whether they were jotting down notes, creating collaborative summaries, or sharing out responses. They allowed for real-time thinking, quick feedback, and encouraged students to take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nStudents used the boards to ask and answer questions with a partner, strengthening both their content knowledge and communication skills. In whole-class discussions, the whiteboard became a central tool for brainstorming, note-taking, and peer-led teaching. It was amazing to see students come up to the board, take on leadership roles, and develop confidence in speaking in front of their classmates.\r\n\r\nThe materials allowed me to make my instruction more interactive and student-driven. I was able to create more opportunities for peer collaboration and encourage students to learn from each other. The boards supported differentiated learning and gave tudents a safe space to make mistakes, revise, and grow. They also helped build a stronger classroom community, where every student's voice mattered.","fullyFundedDate":1746730123376,"projectUrl":"project/boards-to-collaboration/9323684/","projectTitle":"Boards to Collaboration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arias Kassir","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619164"},{"teacherId":3962773,"projectId":8931520,"letterContent":"It is with upmost gratitude that I thank you on behalf of myself and my amazing students at Twain Mesa. We finished up the 2024-2025 school year on a positive note due to the fantastic games and other materials that were given to our class. We played wiffle ball during PE time- which was fun because it was new to everyone. The students enjoyed playing and trying out hacky sac! The students were so excited every time a new box arrived and they got to play with and explore the new materials.\r\n\r\nWe also enjoyed learning and playing games together. There has been such a disconnect with human interactions since the pandemic occurred, shutting down schools. It was fun to learn card games, like uno and skip-bo, and play with 4 or more people at a time. We had a great time playing connect four and battle ship as well! Human connections were made due to the funding of this project and that is the best!\r\n\r\nThank you donors!","fullyFundedDate":1741369471803,"projectUrl":"project/promoting-positive-mental-health-within/8931520/","projectTitle":"Promoting Positive Mental Health within the School!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mac","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3962773_orig.jpg?crop=1856,1856,x0,y303&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758143761151","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3962773"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133590","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":133590,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mark Twain High School - Mira Mesa on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mark Twain High School - Mira Mesa","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/mark-twain-high-school-mira-mesa/133590"}
