We wasted no time getting our hands dirty and exploring how plants grow. Each student had the chance to plant their own seeds and care for them as they learned about what plants need to survive. We even worked together to plant flowers and vegetables in one of the school's front garden boxes to make the entrance more welcoming for everyone who walks by. The magnetic plant life cycle set has been a wonderful addition, too; it helps students visualize each stage of growth and allows us to assess their understanding in a fun, interactive way.\r\n\r\n When the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was contagious. The students were so proud to take on the role of gardeners and scientists, and they couldn't wait to see their plants start to sprout. These resources have inspired curiosity, teamwork, and responsibility as students care for living things. Our next steps include tracking the growth of our plants, comparing results, and connecting our observations to science lessons about life cycles and the environment. Thanks to your generosity, my students are not only learning science, they're experiencing it firsthand and making our school a little brighter along the way.","fullyFundedDate":1731949068355,"projectUrl":"project/growing-in-third-grade/8950837/","projectTitle":"Growing in Third Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Burch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1868436_orig.jpg?crop=2513,2513,x0,y117&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700251742590","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-mcdougald"},{"teacherId":1868436,"projectId":9383018,"letterContent":"When our new cushions and floor seats arrived, my students were so excited to see them! We use them every day as part of our flexible seating options. Sitting for long periods can be uncomfortable for eight- and nine-year-olds, so these cushions give students the chance to sit comfortably on the floor during lessons, reading time, or group work. It helps them stay more focused and relaxed, and it makes learning feel more inviting and comfortable for everyone.\r\n\r\n Now that the cushions are part of our classroom, we're using them during group discussions, partner reading, and hands-on activities. The flexibility allows me to easily move students into small groups for collaboration and helps make classroom management smoother. As we move forward, my students are learning to make responsible seating choices that help them stay comfortable and focused.
