Because of your generosity, our learning environment remains clean, fresh, and welcoming every single day—something that makes a bigger impact on student comfort and focus than many people realize. In a classroom where accidents, odors, and everyday messes are inevitable, having these resources readily available allows me to maintain a sanitary and calming space for students consistently. The cleaner, more comfortable environment has noticeably contributed to improved student mood and readiness to learn. Your donation has also allowed me to share supplies with fellow teachers when needed, extending the impact of your generosity beyond just my classroom. I received about 1,200 pencils and 1,200 erasers—literally enough to last us a at least 2-3 years. I was able to disperse them to other teachers I work with and even give 200 pencils to my secretary so she can keep distributing them to teachers who need them. I saved 300 erasers for myself and shared the rest with coworkers. I no longer have to go ask the office for pencils or wait for them to be replenished. These pencils don't break easily or sharpen down to a tiny unusable knob. My students are now assigned their own personal pencil to use every time I have them in class, no fighting over who has an eraser, etc! This made a bigger impact than you probably realize—thank you for supporting us! We all truly appreciate your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1768510230179,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-learning-with-pencilserasers/9974810/","projectTitle":"Supporting Learning With Pencils/Erasers in a Correctional Setting","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kleis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7733322_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744662091116","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7733322"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54364","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":500,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":40.0,"schoolId":54364,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Manson Youth Institution on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Manson Youth Institution","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/connecticut-department-of-education/manson-youth-institution/54364"}
