We are having a great year so far! My ESL students are growing so much in Algebra 1. They are learning key vocabulary terms, attaching colors to words and building interactive notebooks to use as a reference (see photos). My students are learning how to use their notes to help them through problems they do not understand and how to look at the anchor charts on the wall to help them when they get stuck. The supplies have been a huge help in increasing students succeed so THANK YOU!\r\n\r\nI just wanted to share a few highlights and celebrations from this week. We took a quiz on Tuesday and 94% of my students passed which is the highest passing rate on an assessment all year. 3 students who have never passed a major grade this year finally passed. It was incredible to see their smiles as they got their grades back today! Secondly, to begin each class, we talk about \"good things\" from the students' weeks. It's been sweet to see my low English learner kids catch on to this and learn to share with the class their good things. I have also started to have student play the role of the teacher to lead our discussion about good things. They are loving this! Lastly, my students asked me earlier this week if they could decorate my classroom for Halloween (mind you, these are 14- and 15-year-olds) so we ended our day today by decorating the room and letting them use their creativity. This means a lot to us due to the nature of students I teach. Because most of them come from low income families, they are not able to bring snacks to school. Our school schedule starts by 6:45am when students arrive. Because they eat breakfast that early, we try to provide them with snacks in-between lessons until lunch time at noon. When some of them miss the school bus, they also miss breakfast because by the time parents drop them off, the school cafeteria is closed for the morning. These snacks and sensory items has come as a big relief.\r\nThank you for all you do and praying God's blessings on you all.","fullyFundedDate":1760045409976,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-school-essentials/9512204/","projectTitle":"Back to School Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Adoboe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9712028"},{"teacherId":9894445,"projectId":9060260,"letterContent":"On behalf of my Functional Academic Life Skills classroom, I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donation of student games, the computer charging station, snacks, and a printer. Each of these items has already made a meaningful impact on my students and our daily routines.\r\nThe games have provided wonderful opportunities for my students to build and practice important social skills in a fun, engaging way. The charging station has encouraged them to take responsibility for their devices, teaching independence and accountability. The snacks have been greatly enjoyed and have helped keep my students focused and energized throughout the day.\r\nMost of all, the printer has been a true blessing. Having one readily available in the classroom has allowed me to provide materials and resources quickly, without leaving my students unattended. It has been such a relief and a tremendous support in keeping our classroom running smoothly.\r\nYour generosity has not only supported the academic needs of my students but has also contributed to their growth in responsibility, independence, and social development.
