Our students are using these materials to craft their very own smashbooks, where they combine writing, drawing, photos, and personal reflections into unique, meaningful keepsakes.\r\n\r\nOne special moment was when students shared their first completed pages with the class. Their faces lit up as they proudly showed off their work—each smashbook bursting with personality and creativity. It was inspiring to see how these materials helped them express their thoughts and stories in new ways.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the supplies, the excitement was contagious! Many jumped right in, eager to experiment with colors, textures, and layouts, making learning feel fun and personal. These smashbooks will become a powerful tool for self-expression and growth throughout the year.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly opened up new creative pathways for our students, and we're so grateful to have you alongside us on this journey. Thanks to your support, we are able to provide our students with essential clothing, school supplies, personal care items, and food. The impact of these resources has been profound.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reaction from our students was immediate and heartwarming. Their faces lit up as they discovered the abundance of resources available to them. For many, having access to these essential items means they can come to school feeling confident and ready to engage in their learning. I recently witnessed a moment during a project in our Occupational Partnerships for Tomorrow (OPT) class where the Mercantile provided for students who were recently homeless and for several students who were suffering economic hardships. Not only did they benefit from the materials, but they also gained valuable leadership and organizational skills as they worked together to manage the store and assist their peers. It was incredible to see how this initiative has fostered a sense of responsibility, empathy, and inclusion within our school community.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our students are using the resources from the Monarch Mercantile to fuel their ongoing projects, which directly support their academic and personal growth. In the coming school year (as we did with this school year), we will continue integrating the Mercantile into our curriculum, using it as both a learning tool and a means of reinforcing positive behavior through our PBIS program. Students are excited to take on more leadership roles and have the confidence to do so. As these students start to take more of an active role in the Merc, we know the skills and experiences they gain will empower them far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1741870600037,"projectUrl":"project/the-monarch-mercantile-mission/9143249/","projectTitle":"The Monarch Mercantile Mission","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCoy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4341141_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1524441293776","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4341141"},{"teacherId":9689788,"projectId":8677114,"letterContent":"I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your contributions to my Donor's Choose project, \"Calm and Confident: Empowering Students with Emotional Disabilities and Anxiety.\" Your support has made a huge impact on my students' lives, and I am excited to share how we are using the new resources you provided.\r\n\r\nThe colorful headphones with microphones have been a game-changer for my students. Many of them experience anxiety when reading aloud in front of their peers, but now they can record themselves reading at their own pace. This has not only boosted their confidence but also allowed them to fully engage in our online reading program. Just last week, I witnessed a moment that touched my heart: one of my students, who usually avoids reading, volunteered to share a recording with the class.\r\n\r\nThe book \"Anxiety Survival Guide for Teens\" has also been a hit with students. They are finding it very relatable and I've been able to use the topics to start discussions in our classroom about mental health. It's been wonderful to see them share their thoughts about anxiety and create a supportive environment for one another. During our discussion sessions, the calming balls have been a helpful tool for teaching students coping strategies.\r\n\r\nAs for the next steps, we are planning to start some collaborative projects that will allow students to express their feelings and experiences related to anxiety. One idea I'm toying with is creating a \"Mental Health Awareness\" bulletin board where students can share tips from the book and their own strategies for coping with anxiety. This will not only reinforce what they've learned but also foster a sense of community and support within our school.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your incredible support.
