I had a group of 3-4 students each day sit in my room and work on their crochet skills. I started a Google classroom for them to be able to watch videos to practice new skills. As they become more confident in their skills they ask me to add new videos about specific topics that they would like to learn. We even started to learn how to read patterns. Most of the projects that they make are ones that they just create on their own without a specific pattern to follow. They have even gotten several of their friends to join the group and they can be found taking their yarn and hooks outside to work on during recess. They are so proud of the things that they have made and show me new projects almost every week.","fullyFundedDate":1735341848498,"projectUrl":"project/crochet-hobby-or-life-skill/8715322/","projectTitle":"Crochet, Hobby or Life Skill?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Todd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6615280"},{"teacherId":2346769,"projectId":9156845,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your wonderful donation. Using reading games that gamify the skills they are learning has boosted their engagement. It has incentivized students to complete their work and work hard during class so we can utilize these games. Our classroom can be very noisy at times, something as simple as placing tennis balls on each chair has made a huge difference. Classrooms are already loud without adding on the extra noise from furniture. Also adding seat sacks has given students another space that is easily accessible to help keep their materials neat and organized. \r\n\r\nClassrooms can be very overwhelming for students with overcrowding, noise level, academics, social status and so much more. I have tried to create a safe, quiet and calm space for students to feel comfortable to learn everyday at school. One student recently shared these additions have helped them concentrate more!
