The printer is housed in the front office so our whole staff is able to use it to print incentives for specific students who meet their attendance and/or a behavioral goal. \r\nI have used it with a student who struggles with basic emotional regulation. He has chosen a fidget spinner and a cone shaped fidget. He knows what he is working for in my group and what it will take for him to earn them. It has helped me engage him more than before. He likes the idea that we printed it at school and it is something he can earn and take home. \r\n\r\nThe secretaries have printed a few items to use with students who remain after school when their adults run late at pick up. The favorites are a long \"leaf dragon\" and small \"coyotes\" (our mascot) that they play with instead of walking around wondering what to do at the end of the day. \r\n\r\nThese small items make a BIG impact with students and staff and I cannot thank you enough for your help in funding the machine and filament!","fullyFundedDate":1755897881886,"projectUrl":"project/3d-printed-creations-incentives/9610282/","projectTitle":"3d Printed Creations Incentives!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stoddard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp807929_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1473806564297","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennknorr"},{"teacherId":4667313,"projectId":8802755,"letterContent":"To some, a carpet may not seem like a very big deal, but to a Kindergarten it is essential! We use this new carpet every single day for our floor seating option in our classroom library. Students can use this flexible seating option throughout reading, writing, math and all content lessons. It also helps to subtly define the space and make the library corner feel a bit more cozy. It is also such good quality that I will be able to use it for many, many years to come!\r\n\r\nWhen the new carpet arrived in the classroom, the students were clamoring over each other to get a look and then to try it out! Squeals of delights and soft oohs and ahhs were heard after we got it opened up and rolled out. They liked the way it looked, but most of my kiddos were happier about how soft it is! Since then it has been used about four or five times a day every single school day by individuals and small groups of kids! They build towers of hexagons, triangles and square blocks on it. They read with friends and book characters while sprawling out on it. They write exciting stories in their journals, practice matching alphabet sounds and drive race cars around it! We turned it into a prediction lesson and a graphing lesson! I had all the kids talk and write about what they thought might be in the boxes first. Then I didn't open them until the next day because I wanted to take the time to set everything up. When they walked in in the morning the smiles they all had were so big it was infectious! Our school has two Chromebook storage and charging carts for the three 1st grade classes. Our class does not have a cart in the classroom and our class Chromebooks are split between the other two rooms. \r\nBefore our DonorsChoose project, students had to find their Chromebook in one of two crates, which were heavy, hard to sort through, and lead to many Chromebooks falling over as students pulled theirs out. Now, we have a storage unit that allows each student to quickly and independently find their number, as well as take and replace their Chromebook safely. Not to mention, the wooden unit is much more attractive than the milk crates that we were previously using!\r\nThe other storage solutions that we got from this project make classroom materials much easier to find and use.
