The children were excited to start by just exploring the boxes, and getting to know the different materials and activities that revolve around the first grade standards. They are really enjoying getting to know how mapping works. They also liked exploring matching goods and services, which aligned with a field trip they took last month. The food from around the world really intrigued them as they started to understand how the world expands beyond their classroom.\r\nThis month we are rolling up our sleaves and digging into the economics standards. We will be using our play store and using the Economics kit that is focused on goods and services to better understand our learning standards. I am thrilled to use these resources so the children can create their own learning through hands-on resources in a way that is immersive and makes sense to them.","fullyFundedDate":1756138080708,"projectUrl":"project/first-grade-economics-in-action/9608022/","projectTitle":"First Grade Economics in Action","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yekulis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/myekulis"},{"teacherId":1395179,"projectId":9747331,"letterContent":"Bringing the store into the room is a game changer for helping children understand economics. First grade children are still young and continue to learn best through play. By bringing in the store, we help them understand the difference between goods and services, the difference between producer and consumer, and the difference between wants and needs.\r\nThe store has also provided an additional level of engagement, as we are finding it is equitably reaching ALL students in the classroom, regardless of their ability level. Play reaches the basic level of understanding of all children, and friends who do not normally engage and interact with their peers are suddenly jumping in and being involved in the action. It is creating new opportunities for engagement and opening the possibility of new ways of communicating with peers, which is huge.\r\nThank you for making this dream and vision possible. The learning is real and engaging, and it is because of your kindness that is happening.","fullyFundedDate":1758799241292,"projectUrl":"project/first-grade-social-studies-hands-on-lea/9747331/","projectTitle":"First Grade Social Studies: Hands on Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yekulis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/myekulis"},{"teacherId":6283785,"projectId":6511530,"letterContent":"We are seeking funding to acquire LEGO robotics equipment to establish/expand our hands-on STEM learning program.
