With such a broad variety, I can start students out on very simple texts and increase the difficulty as they gain literacy. This helps encourage students to continue trying because they don't get overly frustrated with the content. I was also able to provide them with a variety of topics, so they can have a choice once they get to a higher literacy level of what they choose to read.\r\nThis was also the perfect time for this project to be funded as we have several Spanish-speaking students in our district who will now be able to continue improving their native literacy at the appropriate grade levels. I love when classroom materials can serve several useful purposes at once!\r\nThank you again, so so much, for making this possible. It would have taken me years to acquire all of these books on my own, so I can't tell you how much I appreciate your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1728312598450,"projectUrl":"project/learning-spanish-through-authentic-texts/8478180/","projectTitle":"Learning Spanish Through Authentic Texts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Devlin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9581289_orig.jpg?crop=602,602,x0,y347&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720201685361","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9581289"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28058","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":154,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":28058,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lowpoint - Washburn Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lowpoint - Washburn Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/lowpoint-washburn-cusd-21/lowpoint-washburn-junior-senior-high-school/28058"}
