Because of your generosity, we were able to add new toys, games, and materials that are already making a meaningful difference in how our students learn and communicate each day.\r\n\r\nMany people think of technology in schools as computers or tablets, but in speech and language therapy, \"technology\" also includes tools that help us make language visible and interactive. With the laminator and new materials, we can now quickly create visual supports — picture choices, schedules, communication boards, and vocabulary cards — and get them directly into the hands of students and teachers. These visuals help students understand directions, express their wants and needs, and participate more successfully in classroom routines. Instead of guessing or becoming frustrated, students now have a clear way to communicate.\r\n\r\nThe new toys and games have been especially exciting for our students because they turn communication into something fun and natural. Activities like Play-Doh encourage conversation, requesting, describing, and storytelling while students are engaged in play. Games such as Shelby's Snack Shack motivate students to practice turn-taking, asking questions, commenting, and using complete phrases — all without feeling like \"work.\" When learning feels like play, students participate longer and use more language.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant to communicate have especially warmed to these materials. Some students who typically rely on gestures or behavior are now using words or pictures to request pieces during games. Others who struggled to stay engaged during structured tasks will sit and interact for extended periods when language is embedded into play. Teachers have also shared that students are beginning to use the visuals we created across the school day, not just during therapy — a huge step toward independence.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide supplies; it provided access to communication, confidence, and connection for our students. We are truly grateful for your support and the opportunities it continues to create for them.","fullyFundedDate":1764539346103,"projectUrl":"project/play-connect-communicate-building-co/9870301/","projectTitle":"Play, Connect, Communicate - Building Communication Through Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cullen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10339523_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y340&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762551675206","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339523"},{"teacherId":3530244,"projectId":9792486,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for thinking of me and my students.
