It has also allowed us to bring lessons to life in ways that would not be possible with paper and pencil alone.\r\n\r\nThe students' excitement was immediate! They especially enjoy being able to interact with the technology themselves and show what they know in different ways. Students who may be quieter during whole-group instruction have especially enjoyed opportunities to participate through technology. It gives them another way to build confidence, practice independently, and experience success.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources are helping prepare our students for a world where technology is part of everyday learning and life. They were very eager, excited, and motivated to use the playdough, modeling clay, and bean bag chair. We use the playdough in centers in various ways, as well as during morning work. The students love using playdough mats to practice letter and number formation. I also received a new student midyear, and these resources have helped her catch up with letter and number recognition. I was very proud of her because she performed wonderfully on our end-of-the-year assessment. This morning work is also helping us meet district curriculum guidelines.\r\nOur class used the modeling clay for a dual purpose. During our \"Save the Earth\" unit, we discussed caring for plants, so we decided to use the clay to build flowers and paint them during small group time. The students were so excited to mold the petals, stems, and leaves. Then came the painting! Everyone did a great job choosing colors and painting their creations. Some students were surprised that the clay had dried because this was their first experience creating with clay. Once we finished, we decided to give our creations to our moms for Mother's Day.\r\nBoth playdough and clay provide our little learners with engagement while fostering motor strength, creativity, emotional regulation, cognitive skills, hand-eye coordination, and the development of the pincer grasp essential for proper scissor and pencil grip.\r\nThe awesome bean bag chair for my classroom library has created a cozy and safe spot for my students. It fosters a love of reading by inviting students to spend more time in the library area. The bean bag also promotes independence because the children get to choose their own reading spot. I also love that my library doubles as a calming corner, so the bean bag helps support emotional regulation for preschoolers when they may be feeling sad or simply need some quiet time to themselves.\r\nOur next steps are to use the extra playdough and clay as end-of-the-year gifts for the children to take home and enjoy over the summer. Practicing those motor skills and building hand strength so they come to kindergarten ready to write is one of my goals for them next year. The bean bag will definitely continue to be used next year to help students regulate emotions, which is especially important during the first three months of preschool.\r\nAll of this was made possible because of people like you. Students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to participate in organized sports are now practicing together, learning discipline, and representing their school with pride. They are building friendships across grade levels and developing a strong sense of belonging and purpose.\r\n\r\nStudents are working in small teams to complete passing challenges, scrimmages, and mini-games that require them to strategize together.
