These are students who, before reading this book, possessed a short stamina or reluctance for reading books. Yet, this book allowed them to strengthen their stamina and develop their love of reading.\r\n\r\nThis experience allowed them to also engage in discussion about disabilities, inclusion, middle school life, fitting in, and growing up. The students were quick to react to various situations in the book, posing questions, making observations, and analyzing the different characters' motivations for their actions. They also discussed how some of the behavior by some characters would be taken or perceived if the same behaviors/actions took place in our school. \r\n\r\nAfter reading, discussing, and analyzing the book, the students were excited to watch the movie adaptation and compare the changes made between the two mediums, and determine if those changes were beneficial or if they took away from the original work. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your support in being able to provide this experience for our students. Your contributions will positively impact them for years.","fullyFundedDate":1730572476201,"projectUrl":"project/cardinals-want-to-soar-out-of-their-mind/8872093/","projectTitle":"Cardinals Want to Soar Out of their Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Spicer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8135617_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1634612809263","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8135617"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16957","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":622,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.4,"schoolId":16957,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Losoya Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Losoya Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/southside-independent-school-district/losoya-intermediate-school/16957"}
