What began as a dream to put high-quality chapter books into the hands of my students has already made a difference in two sets of fourth graders! One of my favorite memories from last year was opening the boxes with my students—it felt like Christmas morning! Their excitement was contagious as they discovered that they would each have their own copy of The Wild Robot. Reading aloud after lunch is a treasured tradition in my classroom. My students love being swept into a story, but they often became so invested that waiting to find out what happened next was almost impossible! Having their own copies changed everything. They could read ahead, revisit favorite parts, and continue exploring the story independently while still enjoying our special read-aloud time together. I watched their curiosity grow, our conversations become richer, and their reading stamina strengthen.\r\n\r\nMy goal was to reach as many fourth graders as possible, and these books are now beginning their second journey with a new class of readers. During Back-to-School Night on August 27, I shared with families the importance of building reading stamina and how chapter books help children become stronger, more independent readers. With a little dramatic flair, I slid open the whiteboard door to reveal the stacks of The Wild Robot, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Esperanza Rising, and The BFG waiting for my new students. I was thrilled to share not only what their children would be reading throughout the year, but how families could support reading at home and become part of our reading journey.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I am thrilled by how naturally these books connect to our curriculum and deepen learning. They give students meaningful opportunities to think critically, discuss complex characters and problems, make connections, ask questions, and support their thinking with evidence. Most importantly, these stories give students a reason to want to keep reading. Your generosity is helping me meet the goals I had when I created this project: building reading stamina, strengthening critical-thinking skills, nurturing a genuine love of reading, and engaging families in their children's reading lives.\r\n\r\nThank you for bringing JOY and ADVENTURE into my classroom and for helping my fourth graders become thoughtful, confident readers. You have given them more than books—you have given them opportunities to discover new worlds, connect with unforgettable characters, share stories with their families, and develop a love of reading that can last far beyond the fourth grade classroom. I am beyond thrilled to see where these books take them next!","fullyFundedDate":1777950393073,"projectUrl":"project/chapter-books-big-adventures-lifelong/10254552/","projectTitle":"Chapter Books: Big Adventures, Lifelong Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9908343"},{"teacherId":6098282,"projectId":10194441,"letterContent":"On behalf of our students, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible generosity.
