Their curiosity quickly turned into enthusiasm as they asked what kind of eggs we would hatch and how long the process would take. Since we received the materials in the fall, we chose to wait for warmer weather to give the chicks the best chance of survival once they hatched, which only built more anticipation among students.\r\n\r\nAs this is a life science classroom, the incubation and hatching process provides a meaningful, real-world example of biological development. Watching a fertilized egg become a fully developed chick in just 21 days demonstrates how a complete organism forms and grows. We also candled the eggs periodically to ensure they were still viable, allowing students to observe development inside the shell. This helped reinforce key concepts such as embryonic development, cell division, and the importance of environmental conditions.\r\n\r\nUsing an automatic humidity incubator made a significant difference in our success. By maintaining consistent conditions, it supported healthy development and led to strong results—15 out of 17 fertile eggs hatched successfully. This high success rate made the experience even more exciting and rewarding for students.","fullyFundedDate":1763497329239,"projectUrl":"project/from-yolk-to-baby-chick/9700379/","projectTitle":"From Yolk to Baby Chick","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ball","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10249043"},{"teacherId":9900107,"projectId":9067079,"letterContent":"Students were thrilled when the author of the I Survived books visited our school.
