Because of you, our classroom has transformed into a space where curiosity leads the way and students feel empowered to experiment, build, and problem-solve like real engineers and scientists.\r\n\r\nWe are already using the new resources daily during our STEM center rotations. One of the first projects students tackled was a collaborative design challenge where they used the building materials to create a structure that could support weight while meeting specific constraints. I watched students test ideas, fail, redesign, and cheer each other on—using vocabulary like \"stability,\" \"balance,\" and \"revision\" with confidence. One moment that stood out was a student who usually hesitates to participate proudly explaining their group's design choices to the class. That confidence came directly from having the right tools in their hands.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was instant. Students gathered around, eyes wide, asking questions and eagerly imagining what they could create. Several students told me it felt \"like a real engineering lab.\" That sense of ownership and excitement has carried into our lessons ever since—students are more engaged, more collaborative, and more willing to take academic risks.\r\n\r\nNext, students are using the STEM center materials as part of an ongoing problem-based learning project connected to our current science unit. They will be planning, testing, and refining solutions over multiple sessions, documenting their thinking and reflecting on what works and why. These materials are helping students see learning as an active process—and helping them see themselves as capable thinkers and creators.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you didn't just donate materials—you invested in our students' confidence, curiosity, and love of learning. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to explore, create, and grow in ways that will stay with them far beyond our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1763848612731,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-share-explore-and-work-tog/9886142/","projectTitle":"Learning To Share, Explore, and Work Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Keszthelyi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10346916"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40553","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":545,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":49,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.4,"schoolId":40553,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Longleaf Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Longleaf Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/escambia-county-school-district/longleaf-elementary-school/40553"}
